- 1985 FORD 555
Hi all,
I’m working on my 1985 Ford 555 backhoe (4WD) and I’m stuck on two things:
I’ve seen a lot of conflicting info online (some showing the 3-stud bolt-in type, which I know mine isn’t). Mine has 4 bolts on top holding the cover plate.
Any help with part numbers, suppliers in the UK, or even a reliable diagram would be much appreciated.
Thanks in advance,
Addison
I’m working on my 1985 Ford 555 backhoe (4WD) and I’m stuck on two things:
- Hub Nut Removal Tool –
I need the proper tool to remove the hub nuts. From what I’ve found, the original Ford/New Holland tool number should be 11846, but I can’t track one down.
- Do any aftermarket versions exist (e.g. Laser, Draper, Sealey, etc.)?
- Some of the nuts on mine have 4 slots, but I can see others with 5 or 6. Has anyone used a cheap Laser tool successfully, or is there another equivalent I should look for?
- Kingpins & Bearings –
I’ve got the axle apart. The top bearing is broken, and the bottom bearing was completely destroyed. The top pin looks straightforward, but the bottom pin looks odd – it has a solid centre instead of the threaded section I expected.
- Does anyone know the correct kingpin and bearing part numbers for this model?
- Are there different versions depending on year/axle type?
