We didn't get over an inch of snow total after the freezing rain, but the ice built up on the trees and power lines. Then we got 50mph wind gusts that toppled the ice laden trees onto power lines causing massive outages. In the four county area we have thousands without power and heat. Local governments and churches have set up shelters that people can go to to get warm. My home was lucky and we didn't lose power for any length of time, but just 1/2 mile to the west they are without electricity. It is going to be several days before power is restored and they say we have more snow on the way. The heavy snow would have been better than this ice. Had to put ice cleats on my boots so I could cut up the Maple that fell blocking the tractors and hit the RTV. I guess one positive of this is I got some nice hard Maple to carve and turn bowls out of.
