What size gas cylinders?

I don't know where you are but around here most people just lease their cylinders and be done with it. Doesn't matter how long you have them and you only pay for refilling. It's the responsiblility of the supplier to check the tanks. My supplier is very consious about the cylinders and I've never been disappointed.

your mileage may vary, but i've found that some of the local welding gas dealers around here are changing their policy and pricing on leases. maximum one year leases are getting common unless you have business credentials and multiple (10 or more) tanks. the one year lease is about $45 here now. if you are only going to use a welder occasionally, and can use a 60cf tank, then you could buy a new tank every 2 1/2 years for what the lease costs.

leasing is certainly easier (i currently have 3 leased tanks and 3 owned ones), but i've had a couple of my small tanks for nearly 20 years, and i'm 40 now. i hope to keep using them for 20 more years, and at that rate i would have spent in the ballpark of $1500+ per tank in leases, as opposed to about $150 per tank and 3 extra recertifications, and i could always sell the tank when i'm too old to use it and get most of my investment back. sure, its only $45 a year, but with oxygen, acetelyne, argon, and c25 tanks, it adds up to several thousand dollars over a lifetime.

At work... we receive medical gas delivery several times each week... part of my job is to inspect the Medgas area each day. Not too long ago, we had a Oxygen Cylinder in the Manifold dated 1939... 70 years and still in service.

What I found unusual is this Cylinder was a "Linde" and the year stamp had **** Swastikas before and after the date. Linde is/was a German firm. I can only guess where this cylinder has traveled over the years... U-Boats, Zeppelins, etc.

I also had a cylinder with a 30's date, and a **** ******** on it at one time
I have never seen another, and wondered about where, and how.
