John Deere 3320
I need to buy a rotary cutter. I have been looking at the BB60 (priced at $1600 localy). Can my tractor handle the BB72? I also will be mowing about 3 acres with this (for my camp), will this do a good enough job if I keep the blades sharp? The other use will be for me to cut about 14-15 acres of tall grass and small bushes (under 1 inch). Does anyone know if I can get one cheaper online? Thanks for your help!!!

Do you have a FEL or other ballast on the front? My L3240 is similar to your machine and a Woods BB60 on the back is about all it can handle without the FEL or something heavy on the front, especially on ruts or hills.

I have a front end loader. My real question is can the PTO drive a 72". Also, is the price of $1600 to high for a 60".
Thanks!!!

I believe a BB72 would be too large for your tractor. Woods recommends 30-65 PTO HP to run the BB72. The 3320 has roughly 25 PTO HP. I think you would be better off with the BB60.

I have the same 3320 that you do, and went though this when buying my rotary cutter. I'm not sure about the Landpride attachments, but for John Deere you have 2 options: 72" RC2072 and the 60" MX5. Both have a minimum rating at 25HP, the MX5 is a more heavy duty unit, but the RC is a nice unit too. Price for the MX5 is $2500 and the RC2072 is $1782.

I'd say 72" might be a bit much if you want to cut a full swath thru waist high field grass at any kind of ground speed. For lighter work it should be fine. I discovered that price can be a local matter, so maybe someone nearby can comment.
