You may be right in that if the budget is limited to the lower priced units there would be more room for other implements. That said the 110tlb is a compact based TLB (based on the 4600 IIRC). Before I had the 4520 I used the 110 with 3PH quite a bit and the extra weight and hydraulics are a good combination. The only issue with the 110tlb is the fixed loader, if you foresee needing a unit with the fel completely removed it won't work.
I looked up the Woods backhoe, seems to be a nice unit but you have to anchor this down to get the full potentionial of the digging forces. I will venture that these new backhoes such as yours are way better than they used to be. My 110tlb with Laurin cab weighs 8050 lbs, some of the money is in the extra material. The 110tlb with standard canopy and 10' hoe weighs about 7600 lbs, without the hoe the tractor loader with 3PH is about 6000 lbs. without rear weights or ballast.
My point in mentioning this is that the 110's ability to perform as a 3PH tractor are often overlooked by most people on this forum. With three front and three rear hydraulic circuits it makes a good utility tractor.
I am not disagreeing at all about the capabilities of the 110 but there is a premium for some of those nice features. The Woods BH90x is mounted via four points to a subframe so is probably about as stable a set up as with the 110 (I've never looked closely at the 110 BH mount though). My tractor in TLB configuration (no cab) also weighs about 7000lbs before ballast so is not a light weight either. Both the Kioti and JD are close enough to the limits of a 10K trailer that being any heavier would be a disadvantage. I paid a few Franklin's more than 30K for the tractor/loader/BH/canopy and extra rear remotes. The loader is rated at 2700lbs lift at PP (same as JD) and the BH digging force is a bit more than 3700lbs if I recall correctly which is 2000 lb less than the JD. The JD will also have a 24 inch longer reach (important for digging foundations etc). The biggest differences then functionally are all related to the bigger backhoe on the JD. The JD does come with 2 function hydraulics for the loader standard (cost me $500 to add that to my tractor).
IMO the real benefit of the dedicated TLBs are for "everyday" BH use especially for digging foundations as that is what they are optomized for anyway. Wish I had a 4 point ROPS. If I were a contractor I'd be comparing the 110 to the L39 and M56 but each of those comes with a premium over equivalent HP CUT plus BH so there needs to be a reason to spend the extra dough on "commercial" BH size and features. Also consider that as the JD is a commercial machine JD doesn't give as generous a warranty. My Kioti has a 4 year warranty standard (2 total plus 2 more powertrain).
Edit: I just used the pricing function on the JD website and get a list of $48K for the JD110 with buckets and 4 year/1000hr warranty. Assuming a 10% discount that still leaves more than a $10-12K difference v a new DK40se TLB. You are right though that compared to the JD4120 TLB there is only a 5K upcharge to the JD110.
