4 yr old's second ride on the tractor

I am working in shop this afternoon, when my daughter, who is 4 1/2 asks if she can ride on the tractor. Since she has only ridden it once before and I have high hopes that she will be mower, bus hogging, etc one day, we were on the tractor before she could change her mind.

Here are the results. She made it for 2 laps of the horse arena which is pretty good. Her steering is improving.

Very cool. My two year old asks every day to go for a tractor ride. When the weather is nice we ride the perimeter of the property. I think she would sit there on my knee all day. I'm glad to see her wearing her hearing protection.

Just out of curiousity, was your daughter driving when the canopy got bent? Wouldn't be the first time a daughter bent a fathers toy. :laughing:

Got my grandaughter to go for a sitting, but didn't want to around. Hopefully my grandson will be far more interested. Anyway, life's too short not to have fun with the kids...Good luck :thumbsup:

My first tractor memories were at about that age on my Grandparents farm...

The tractor would crawl down a windrow and I would steer picking up the hay and go back.

Great memories for a kid.

My nieces would love to try the backhoe on my little BX... maybe one day when only one is visiting... with 3 or 4 hanging around it would be too easy to get distracted... for me and them.

My three year old grand son loves tractors, but my 16 year old could not care less. I hope my youngest stays interested.

my 17 month old great nephew loves riding on the tractor.if he sees me or his grandpa heading for the tractor he is ready to go.put him in my lapp an he sitts prefectly still while we ride around.stop an he grabbs the joystick to the loader an has fun.

Unfortunately, I can't balme the bent canopy on the kid, the wife, the in-law or the neighbor :ashamed:. That one is all me. I was mowering near a telephone pole and was watching behind me to make sure the mower didn't catch the pole when the canopy caught a guide wire:confused2:.

I understand how the canopy thing happened. Some years back I was running a friends Ford with a sickle bar and was busy watching the bar adjusting the height and angle when I hit a tree branch and knocked the muffler right off.

These things are good reminders why we shouldn't do any work with the tractor while carrying the kids. It's too easy to get a little distracted. Canopies and mufflers are repaired or replaced easily enough.

I don't agree with trying to do any work with kids aboard but will often dedicate time for "a ride, grampa".
One guy (10yrs) is getting pretty good with the hoe and my another (13yrs) will now navigate the driveway while I throw rocks into the bucket. Both are city kids ....
When I was 13 Dad had me his car driving on the backroads.
