The smallest 4WD Bota gets heated hard cab

The cab looks great but I have one question, why are you using electric heat? Why not just tap into the engine for heat? I tried the electric heat route 1st and could not get enough heat to warm the cab. With the engine fan set up pulling air through the cab the little heat given off by the electric heater was just not enough. Also you want some leakage so any exhaust fumes are taken out of the cab. Taping into the engine gives you heat within a few mins of starting the tractor.

That is a work of art! Thanks for the pics. BTW where did you get the splined shaft that fits a kubota?
Jim

It's an OEM mower deck gearbox input shaft. Not cheap, but the only way to make it work.

Re;the heater is from DC Thermal in Texas.Does a great job, pulls 35 amps @24V and puts out almost 3000btu.

Do you have an idea how much the alternator and heater add to the weight?

Pictures show a project that is not only quality built but extremely eye appealing. Your design would rival any oem performance.

The heater only weighs a pound or so.I ditched the large batteries that were on the back and went with 2 small lawn & garden batteries that are mounted under the tractor on a tilt-down frame which is attached to the alternator support frame.

I just weighed the whole thing and it comes in at 75 lbs. When pushing snow and running the heater full blast, plus the lighting load, that Kohler CH20 sucks gas like crazy :D:D:D

Update;upgraded heating system.

Changed heater from single point source to a new model from DC Thermal that has distribution capabilities.A dedicated windshield defroster and a vent for each foot

This one is pulling almost 47 amps and putting out ~ 4000 btu's.
