Snow Attachments V plow for tractor

Kubota has offered a 72" V for the RTV which might help for some work.

I have a 5 foot scraper blade on the back of my Ferguson, but I've always thought a V plow on the front, mounted to my front end loader, might work well in deep snow. I've even considered making one out of plywood, although I suppose getting the curled contour right is important. I can recall the deepest snow we've had around here was back in the late 1970s, when it was drifted up to my chest out in the road. The county finally came through with a V plow on the lead dump truck, pushed by another straight plow dump truck from the rear.

You might try making your own like this one. Using 3/4 " marine plywood , oak, treated lumber, and steel this will open an 11 ft wide path in one pass. I am using a 35 hp Century 4wd tractor. So far the deepest snow I have tried is 8 ". But I feel certain I can move double that with the V angle at 45 degrees. Cost is about $200. In this part of Va. we do not get too many deep snows. It is no problem to reduce the width to 8' which would allow some serious depth to be moved. Hardest part is to make a mount that fits your particualr front end loader. Willie Jones

I haven't seen a fixed V-blade used over here in the last 25 years at least, interesting that someone still makes them.

Compared to what I'm used to, and there are thousands of them here for municipal streets and sidewalks, the Kanlan model looks good.

One of the swedish manufacturers is also in the US market, but it will be expensive, and probably too wide. It's a very nice construction though:

I have a TTr 4400 Antonio Carraro. I currently have a 3 pt straight plow with a rubber bottom that works great. I did meet the upper end of it capabilities the other day with over 2 feet of the heaviest wetest snow ever. I would slide to the side while doing the sidewalks. I was thinking That a V plow would keep the tractor centred and moving forward. The width I would need at a v would be around 52 inches.

Interesting machine! No doubt an adjustable V-plow would be a great upgrade for you. There are only advantages over a diagonals (except maybe price).

- It allows you to operate in much heavier snow because when folded it provides less friction by reducing the distance the snow needs to travel sideways in half, as well as keeping the tractor centered.

You will not be pushed sideways, wheel friction will be your limiting factor. Do You have chains?

- I provides the abilty to work just like a diagonal blade when needed, but also the very useful scoop configuration to push snow off the road or into a pile without spilling to the sides.

I found this example with your machine:

The Ventracs are similar:

You are looking for 52" which is 130cm and a quite common size, shouldn't be a problem.

At least over here there are many mfg with such plows. My favourite:
Vikplog LVP 130-140

I used to run a P.Olsson plow on a Kubota 8200. See how close to the front of the tractor it fits.

Willie Jones- That's a nice V plow you made, and it looks like it moves some serious snow ! It's about what I envisioned making for my tractor.

I like the looks and the fit of that V plow.
Would like to see some vidio of that plow working some serious snow. But alas, you say you used to run it and apparently don't anymore. :(

Thanks William, I suspect if we get one of the really deep >16" snows that show up here in central Virginia every 10 years or so I may find I have to reduce the width. Would like to see, but most folks around here do not share my enthusiasim for such a snow! Those adjustable V plows do look nice. Willie Jones
