I recently purchased a M9540. Was running Friday using loader for small brush removal. I got out of cab and noticed oil spewing from dip stick area and found the dip stick was missing. I thought this was strange and shutdown engine.. Couldn't find it so picked up another one on Saturday. Filled oil to correct levels and ran to reach normal operating temp. Shut her down and pulled dip stick to check level of oil. It sounded like a tire deflating. I know a crankcase must breath and it looks like tube goes to turbo. Which feeds from air filter. I checked air filter and they appear fine.. Tractor only has 21 hours on it and is under warranty. I just cant imagine what would cause this. Any ideas or anyone had similar issues? Sure did need her today but doesn't appear that going to happen...

Sorry to hear that, we have had our M8540 for about six months or more with no issues like you mentioned.

I have a 7040 also and has 300 hours on her. She has a hydraulic issues on loader. Been down 3 weeks. I'm snake bit.

Sounds like a crankcase breather vent stuck or plugged. At least on a gas engine that's what I would look for.

Like Haywire has stated, something isn't right with the crankcase breather system. If it is in fact okay then you would seem to have a serious blow-by problem that should be addressed as quickly as possible, for the engines sake. Perhaps the dealer can send a tech out at least to have a look-see.

I agree. Will have tech check out. Thanks to all for comments.

About your engine you need a mirror and flashlight to check
the breather tube and if pissible a small hooked tool to pull out the nest or dead animal that may be in their.

If possible remove the 2 bolts that hold the tube to the crankcase and flush some water through it as they do not have a screen from what I remember

Well. All resolved. Tech walked me thru check points and found breather tube on back of valve covered was kinked. she's back up and running. Now back to resolving hydraulics on 7040. Thats a different thread. Thanks to all for help comments.

Are you operating your tractor in below freezing ambient temperatures? If your tractor is the lasted engine design with a closed crankcase system you could be encountering icing of the crankcase vent system.
