50hr service on L3540

   / 50hr service on L3540 #31
I'm only at a little over 30 hours so it'll be this summer before I'll need to do the 50. I know some people have talked about using a vacuum to keep the fliud from leaking out while doing the hst screen while others have said they used a cork. Does anyone know what size cork or if it's needed?

I don't know about an HST filter, but I recently changed the std hydro filter ($30) on my L4200. I just pulled off and slapped the new one on with a bucket underneath. I didn't lose more than a quart of fluid - didn't even need to top it off.

We only lost about a quart when we (my son) changed both filters on our L5030. According to the Operator Manual, we were supposed to drain the fluid, change the filters and then put the fluid back in; to heck with that.

With both of us working on it, we got it all done pretty quickly. I did, however, find ANOTHER bucket with a leak it in when I was changing the engine oil which is the second time this has happened to me. Of course I didn't notice it until I rolled through it on the creeper dragging my shirt tails through it.
