Vintage farmer and his tractor

What a Great! post. Some thing in life have no price and are meant to just be enjoyed. This thread is an example of how less really is more. God Bless people like Oscar who knew how to enjoy life without much. JB thanks for this story and to everyone that added to it!

Sorry I have not checked this thread in awhile, No he did not have any children, but does have 3 nephews from his sisters, since part of his property was the old family's farm I assume the nephews are already part owners and probably are in line to inherit the rest.

I'm gonna miss helping out at the farm, as broken down as it was, it was still a great escape from the suburban lifestyle surounding me and this area.
Go over there on a saturday, turn off the cell phone and since Oscar was not into current affairs it was really like stepping back into a simpler time.

JB.

I know what you mean. My grandfather will be 84 in September and has already turned about 5 acres for this year's gaden. He planted English peas, onions, and potatoes last week.

Here are a couple pictures of him planting a 3 acre patch of corn for me two summers ago.

I don't know that I'll be able to drive by his place when he's gone. I hope it's a long time, because I almost tear up thinking about it.

Of course Oscar was not related to me, but I did get pretty attached to him.

When ever I'm at Lowes now, all I can think of is Oscar, first of all it's next to his property, but also Oscar had to sell Lowes some land so they could fit the site. So I figure if it weren't for Oscar there would be no Lowes here.

Your Grandfather looks like a fine old gent indeed.

He is a very good man. My grandmother passed away almost 4 years ago and he has been pretty lonely. We only live about 1/2 mile from him and I get over there every chance I get, which I admit isn't often enough. Now during the summer we are there every day, because of having the pumpkins on his property.
