Re: KIOTI'S 'Official' posision on 50 hour trans service.

....am planning on changing hyd oil in another 25 hours.
wish i didnt have to, but to protect the tractor, i guess ill do it.

Yeah, at $7 a gallon for fluid at Auto Zone I'd say it's better safe than sorry ..... cheap insurance for the long haul :)

Re: KIOTI'S 'Official' posision on 50 hour trans service.

At 50 hours I changed all my fluids and filters. Not much in the way of metal parts came out, just a few small metal shavings on the magnetic plug. I paid a lot for my tractor and I want to protect my investment. :tractor: :cool2: Required or not I just think it is a good idea to do it. Not that expensive if you do the work yourself. My :2cents: :)

Re: KIOTI'S 'Official' posision on 50 hour trans service.

Based on what I saw on the magnets when I did my 50 hour service, I think it's best to change them all, and the filters at that time. I didn't have any big pieces of metal. But, certainly hundres of tiny slivers.

My dealer also told me that Kioti put UTF in the front axle for the break-in period, and that should be changed out to 90 weight at the 50 hour mark. Can't swear it was UTF in the front axle, but it sur was thin.

Re: KIOTI'S 'Official' posision on 50 hour trans service.

I've got an '05 3054xs TLB, gear/shuttle. On the advise of my dealer I changed out the trans/hydraulic oil at 250hrs; I had serviced the washable filter at around 50 hrs, and when I changed the oil, found nothing that would convince me to do it any sooner. I always change out my engine oil/filter at about 500 miles on a new truck, but went with the dealers recommendation on the tractor; he's going to warranty the thing and they don't, unless requested by the owner, change the hydraulic oil at 50hrs

Re: KIOTI'S 'Official' posision on 50 hour trans service.

I hear what you're saying but would like some clarification. Are you saying that the filter was missing catching the shavings and 'flash'? Was what you found a result of looking at the entire 12 gallons of hydraulic transmission fluid once drained?
Though Kioti would not identify what they use from the factory initial fill up do you really believe they would use an inferior, cheap hydraulic fluid for the break in? Wouldn't this be a foolish move on their part, since they say to change it first time at 400 hours along with the front end fluid?

There is no reason to believe that either hyd or HST filter was not
catching the metal shavings that are in all new machines. What I found
was from the sump, and mostly on the drain plugs. Some shavings settled
to the bottom of my catch buckets, too. I did not dissect my two filters
before I discarded them.

As for what fluid is in there, I had speculated (see earlier threads) that the
straight hyd oil was used to save money, but also possibly as a break-in
fluid that was going to be tossed at 50 hours. My OM clearly states to
change fluids at 50hr.

As for my CT230, I sold that before the initial change, but the fluid also
looked clear and thin, like in my Kiotis.

I agree,to each his own.I had my dealer change my fluids & filters at 50hr.My logic,I paid good money for this tractor and plan I keeping it for a long time, why not spend the $$$ for maintience?coobie

Re: KIOTI'S 'Official' posision on 50 hour trans service.

CORRECTION(S)!!!
Per Kioti's conversation with me today with their customer service rep, I was given erroneous information via voice-mail about the error in the manual. This afternoon I requested to speak directly to the technician who has been at Kioti's No. Carolina headquarters for the last 3 years.
I wanted to follow up with someone who could possibly answer what fluid comes in the HST transmission AND the front axle. I was told the error was on the inside cover page, NOT on the section 7-4 page; which clearly states that the hydraulic transmission and front axle fluids and filters should be changed as part of the routine maintenance of the tractor at 50 hours and again at 400 hours. He also said he could not tell what brand of fluid comes from the factory because Daedong buys from different manufacturers based on quantity and price, BUT the fluid IS a UTF, as is the fluid in the front end. Regarding the front end he said that UTF OR Gear oil could be used but he preferred to replace it with gear oil 80/90 weight instead of using the UTF at the 50 hours service. He further said if something went wrong at say 150 hours he would want to see the service records and if they did not show the trans fluid being changed at 50 hour interval he would kick it off a warranty related claim.
So that is the final report from KIOTI direct.

And please let's not shoot the messenger here- I have given the information I was given from Kioti and said I would follow- up for further clarification today; which I did, and I have now posted those results.

Below is a copy of the email I received from the Technician:

...............................................................
"Per our conversation 3/9/2011 concerning the transmission fluid change interval on your DK40SE, KIOTI strongly recommends that the transmission fluid be changed at 50 hours. This, along with the hydraulic filter change, is to flush out any break in material that may have contaminated the fluid. I hope this answers your questions and enjoy your KIOTI tractor."

Re: KIOTI'S 'Official' posision on 50 hour trans service.

Thank You Sir, your fine report will now put this to rest. Interesting in that my dealer told me not to change the hydraulic oil at fifty hours. I did because the book said to and after your report that kioti would want to see the service report i am happy I did.
