Re: KIOTI'S 'Official' posision on 50 hour trans service.

I was told the error was on the inside cover page, NOT on the section 7-4 page; which clearly states that the hydraulic transmission and front axle fluids and filters should be changed as part of the routine maintenance of the tractor at 50 hours and again at 400 hours. He also said he could not tell what brand of fluid comes from the factory because Daedong buys from different manufacturers based on quantity and price, BUT the fluid IS a UTF, as is the fluid in the front end. _____________

There are lots of errors and contradictions in the DaeDong literature, incl
the OM and SM. Even the 50hr and 400hr intervals are contradicted: if
you change hyd fluid at 50hr, the next change is 450hr, not 400hr. The
service interval for the hyd fluid is 50hr for breakin, then every 400hrs
thereafter. Pretty standard accross makes.

You can find a 75hr interval for engine oil on a sticker on my tractor, but
the manuals refer to a 100hr oil change interval. I'll stick with 100hr,
another common interval accross makes.

Re: KIOTI'S 'Official' posision on 50 hour trans service.

well, i just bought 3 x 5gal of shell donax-td transmission fluid. cost $58/5 gal. way cheaper than the jd or kubota dealerships quoted me. and it matched that required in my service manual. not too much to spend to protect my tractor.

I knew going in that the HST required 12 gal of fluids. part of the trade-off for the hst.

Re: KIOTI'S 'Official' posision on 50 hour trans service.

I'm am glad you followed up with this post, I had spoke with tech services a while back and thought you were getting the wrong information from customer service.

When in doubt, always change it, oil is cheap compared to the prices of tractors.

Re: KIOTI'S 'Official' posision on 50 hour trans service.

dfkrug makes note of errors in the documentation.

I'm waiting for my DK35 to arrive this week but the dealer gave me a manual. They might want to have an English editor rework some instructions. For example, on page 7-33 regarding bleeding the fuel system:

"5. If the engine still cannot be started even after performing the above step, unscrew the 1 or 2 nozzle holder nuts out of 3 or 4 and crank the engine to bleed the system."

or this helpful hint on page 4-57 for helping one to correctly mount the rear tires:

"The tire is correctly installed if the mark "V" is shown straight when the tire is in the forward position."

I'll certainly check that out before I take delivery. :)

Re: KIOTI'S 'Official' posision on 50 hour trans service.

This is commonly referred to as "Kor-english". You should "try" to read some of the earlier manuals, such as the manual for my '04 3054xs TLB; all but useless :confused2:

Re: KIOTI'S 'Official' posision on 50 hour trans service.

I was given the same information by Terry Coley and Tom Martell last September during their visit. The 50 hours fluids change is required to insure warranty coverage. Considering the possible future warranty repairs you “may” need I recommend completing the schedule maintenance to the letter so there is no debate in the future. “Off the record “ two different Kioti engineers stated they have used NAPA and Tractor Supply Universal Hydraulic in their new tractors. It available locally to the NC factory.

CORRECTION(S)!!!
Per Kioti's conversation with me today with their customer service rep, I was given erroneous information via voice-mail about the error in the manual. This afternoon I requested to speak directly to the technician who has been at Kioti's No. Carolina headquarters for the last 3 years.
I wanted to follow up with someone who could possibly answer what fluid comes in the HST transmission AND the front axle. Regarding the front end he said that UTF OR Gear oil could be used but he preferred to replace it with gear oil 80/90 weight instead of using the UTF at the 50 hours service. He further said if something went wrong at say 150 hours he would want to see the service records and if they did not show the trans fluid being changed at 50 hour interval he would kick it off a warranty related claim.
So that is the final report from KIOTI direct.

And please let's not shoot the messenger here- I have given the information I was given from Kioti and said I would follow- up for further clarification today; which I did, and I have now posted those results.

Below is a copy of the email I received from the Technician:

...............................................................
"Per our conversation 3/9/2011 concerning the transmission fluid change interval on your DK40SE, KIOTI strongly recommends that the transmission fluid be changed at 50 hours. This, along with the hydraulic filter change, is to flush out any break in material that may have contaminated the fluid. I hope this answers your questions and enjoy your KIOTI tractor."

i got them at Kerr Oil company store in coeur d'alene idaho. they sell off-road diesel and oil products.

i bet that there are lots of these kind of stores out there. i looked under oil and gas in the yellow pages, and on dexonline. found them that way. they were sooo much cheaper than cenex and farm supply, way way cheaper then kubota and john deere

and the shell donax is listed in Kiotis service manual for use.

double win
