I hear you on the skid vs tractor. A TLB is pretty versitile tool and leaves less damage than a skid in 99% of the applications. I debated long an hard on TLB vs skid.

I wish I had both. We do a lot of logging. I can pull lots more with my tractor and load about as much as a Skid Steer but they can maneuver much better in the woods. The get hung up much more. I have never needed pulled out with R1's but have had to pull the Skid Steer many times. For splitting wood a upside down quick attach splitter makes quick work of big rounds and really saves your back.

Both have a place. For me a tractor is needed and a skid steer would be really nice to have. Maybe if I win the lottery????

I know what you mean, I am debating on a mini-ex/skidsteer or mini-ex/tractor loader.

Sorry it was getting dark when I took this pictures. Here is one of our rigs with a maximum load. We have a driver recovering from surgery and our Freightliner is scheduled to the max, so this is my delivery load for tomorrow. 4 tractors because we were able to get two of them side by side on the rear. Otherwise 3 is generally a full deck.

For the cautious types, yes I have a CDL, run a log book, and have scaled the load and I am legal on all axles. All the same, it's a heck of a load and I start slow, stop slow and leave a lot of distance for either. The truck is a 2006 Duramax with a 6-speed manual trans, no muffler, exhaust brake, oversize rear diff cover for cooling, 10-ply Toyo MT's, and otherwise mostly stock. The trailer is a 27' tandem dually, rated at 20k on the rear axles.

The last picture is of our company Unimog. In theory it can haul a small tractor on it's little flatbed, up to about 3500 lbs, but we've only loaded a tractor on it a time or two just messing around. It's more for fun.
