However, the two big slots look like indentions for a big spanner wrench to turn the lid. With the "Open" arrow, I have to believe a turn to align a release slot is what it needs.

Hey all the lid is off had 4 notches that lined up and off it came. And man was I surpriced at what i saw???? There hidden in the cornor was Jimmy Hoffa

Pumper man comes sat morning but looks to me like it needs pumped lot of sludge on top perty heavy flim poked stick to bottom didn't feel much at bottom will see what pumper man says either way i'm haveing him pump it out start fresh. Has been very interesting to this point .

The scum on top is grease, which doesn't break down. Cooking grease, mechanic grease from the laundry, oils from your skin, whatever. Avoid putting oils and grease down a septic whenever possible.
Solids at the bottom will be food that doesn't break down. Some plants have a high silica content, and will not digest. Colored toilet paper is another lump. Always use white. A garbage disposal puts a bunch of crud in the tank, better to compost the garbage. Bones in particular won't break down. Bones and grease being so durable, that's why Jimmy Hoffa was still recognizable.
