depends.

5 gallon buckets for a couple spots on the tractors are just way to big. so i end up buying a smaller size container. use it up, and then pour from 5 gallon bucket into it.

i also have a few different types of funnels. though i tend to use a larger funnel that has a cheap spout on it, that simply unscrews when i don't need it.

i have been looking for a funnel that just screws into the hole in 5 gallon bucket and pour that way. and funnel i am looking for also has a built in breather.

i haven't yet, but once it warms up enough, i might use a little drill pump to change 21 plus gallons in the 555c. simple little plastic pump that ya hook to end of drill. and attach some hoses to it. i think i paid like 7 bucks for it. but i don't remember were i bought it, just know it was rated for oil. and it was like oh ya this will come in handy.

top of a 5-gallon container. It is a little tedious when doing a dry fill,
but it sure beats the funnel method. They are especially nice for
topping up hyd oil as there is no mess, and I stick the filler hose back
into the bucket top when done.

You can get these at HF Tools or Northern.

In my experience, and this goes for EVERYTHING:

NOTHING is both the best AND lowest cost at the same time.

I personally just use a funnel as others have mentioned. Since I am only doing it ~once a year, I caon put up with it. If I was doing it everyday, I'd probabally use a hand pump. And if you look, you can probabally find an electric pump that will work as well.

Would a 1/2" hose and siphon work? I could sit the 5 gal on the fender and start a siphon.

I just set the funnel over the hole and pour in with the bucket. There are a lot of other more complicated ways, I like to keep it simple though.
