First time I've mowed with the MMM. I like it. Of course inside 5 minutes I hit a 3 or 4 pound rock that I didn't see, left over from pulling a bush up by the roots a few weeks ago, so I have a dinged blade under there that I haven't fixed yet.

The power steering makes tight turns nice, much better than my old mower. I'm not used to the rops though, I tore some low hanging limbs out of a couple trees before I got used to the idea that I had to slow down and lift them over.

There's a couple places where I don't have room to get between a tree and the fence so I'll have to go there periodically and knock that area down with the weed eater.

It's a lot faster than my old mower, but since my yard is a bit rough, I can't really take advantage of that for the most part. Going from 48 to 60" cut is nice. 12" doesn't sound like much, but it's like an extra pass for every 4 compared to my old one.

Now if I can just keep the boulders out from under it and the limbs from catching the top of it, I'll be fine.

I have yet to mow with my 2660! Too much snow yet here on the ground. I still have my blade on the front of it. Can't wait to mow with it this year!!

If you have a FEL, just dig up between the trees where you can't mow.
Don't worry about the boulders, just mow them and eventually, unless they're granite, they'll break up in to smaller pieces that you can mow over without hitting them.
Don't worry about low hanging tree limbs with the ROPS. Eventually you'll have all of the lower ones tore off the tree. Watch those that catch on the ROPS and out of nowhere you get slammed in the back of the head or face. You'll soon see what I mean. :)
Just go and mow and have a good time.
Loved the BX2660. One super fine high powered mowing machine!!!!

Need some monster sized chipped tire mulch rings. I think four or five 10 footers should do. Too bad they don't make them that big and that they'd be $250 each if they did. ;)

not sure if this will help or not but a friend of mine made me a bolder/trash harrow tines for my tractor it works great but wish I had stronger spring harrow teeth only real draw back is I did not get him to make a pivot on it so have to push the stuff to a corner or side where I can not mow

I can clear this branch with the ROPS , but it looked rather low
last month . I stopped to look for a fracture , and this was
weighing it down . Would have dropped right in my lap if
I'd knocked it ! 7' Carpet Python , sleeping off a meal.

It's worth taking the time now and slowly going around the yard with a pruning saw and remove the low hanging branches. It'll make mowing much more enjoyable, and safer!

You'll get that hang of it... I can't wait to mow again since I only have only two mowings under my belt. Check out this thread:

ditto! I used to try to mow in and out to geet around branches. forgot a few times and dinged the rops. took top half rops off, it worked but didnt feel safe. put it back on and then cut EVERY single offending branch away.

To tell you the truth the trees look healthier and better with all that space underneath.

I checked the blades, that rock must have hit back toward the center of the blade, no damage to the cutting edges. I suppose I'll go around and trim some trees tomorrow. I'm toying with the idea of getting the mulching kit so I don't have to worry about throwing clippings in my wife's flower garden. I wish you could get a rear discharge deck. That would be quite the engineering trick.

Been thinking about a small Kubota for mowing and other stuff. You seem to like the mowing so far. Anything else you like or don't like?

So far I like it a lot. I need to get it into some deep thick grass to see how it handles it. I read some complaints that the deck likes to leave windrows. It didn't today, but it was the first cutting of the year. I was really just hitting the high spots, I cut maybe half an acre and it was low enough in some areas that I had trouble seeing where I had been. Not really a good test of my normal routine. I generally put mowing off till it's really obvious that I need to go do it and then I wait one more week. I have dead patches from clippings being too thick. I figure once the weeds take over, there won't be so many grass clippings to worry about. LOL

The mulch kit really chops up the grass on my BX1860. I pulvarized 12 in tall clippings last week!

That would of been the end for me. If not the big one, I would of broke my neck trying to get out of there.

We love my wife's BX2660 for mowing as well as a lot of other tasks, it is one of our favorite machines.

"Mulch kit"? I never even though about that for a "tractor", but I guess it makes sense. Still lots to learn.

Yes, they offer a kit for the deck that has an internal baffle to change the air flow, a plug for the discharge that extends into the deck a bit and of course the mulch blades. It runs $200+ for all of it. The blades are $66. I was thinking that they could be sourced elsewhere for less, but I haven't take the time to look.

After spending some time on TBN yesterday, I decided to take the snowblower off my BX2660. Thanks everyone for prompting me to do that by talking about cutting grass.....ITS SNOWING OUT...... AGAIN!!
