Very informative and entertaining video. I would have never thought of this solution for this problem, never, never. I don't think.:) Glad I have 4wd.

I've never seen it before Roy. How did I miss it on the Kubota forum. Roy, was it on this forum?
Glad he posted it again so I could see it for the first time. Guess it can be good to keep posting the same things over for those of us that miss them the first couple of hundred times. I vote for reposts.:)
I vote yeah to yooper jim's input/contribution to the forum:thumbsup: and nah to Roy's positive and up lifting contribution/input.

Roy: What about this one? How many times have you seen it? You being a JD man, is this your tractor?
Will you admit it if it is?

I don't speak the language very well but I think he said. "That's gonna cost you 2 goats and a sheep but you can keep the log"

He might have been better served by putting some logs crossways underneath the tractor to make a corduroy road. Then he could have gotten back on top of the "crust" and not had to use the chain for as long.

That would be an idea. But. How would you get the driven wheels on top of the logs in the first place?

That methodology is sound. They used too thin a log & chains too near the center of the wheel. 7" green oak & chains around the tire -he'd have driven out in a real low gear. MikeD74t

With the chain like he used. The problem with his method is that his diff lock was broken and he kept chewing up the crust.
If he had used the chain to pull the tractor onto the logs that would have let him get the whole tractor on the crust and back out from there.

It was posted in the owning/operating and rural forums, IIRC. It's a pretty old video. Not the first one I've seen using a length of wood to get a tractor moving.
Apparently not a new trick at all...but with cams and vids (and the internet), one sees a lot of things like this.

I like tractor snow plowing and snow blowing videos (keeps me occupied when the weather is bad). There are hundreds, if not thousands, of tractor related videos on YouTube.

I like it. I would never have thought of doing that. I'll file that in the archives. Even 4X4's get stuck sometimes! ;)
