Exactly. Why do you think I mentioned puddles if it wasn't flat enough? As I said earlier, I'd pass on contactors who don't know their own business. Any concrete contractor I spoke with had binders showing me jobs and their FF grade on their work.

Wire in the roll is good, but it has to be sized for the job. All it does is keeps the cracks locked together so the pieces won't heave relative to each other. It wouldn't just disappear so their memory is poor or the contractor took advantage.

The dirt is going to the garden plot... my soil is very rocky and just a few streets over the land is mostly topsoil quality.

My immediate neighbor is also getting the loamy stuff delivered. His drive is 10 year old asphalt and so far looks good as new... mine is 40 year old concrete and now looks like rubble.

A few (oops-8) years ago I hired a contractor to build a 30x40 shop with a 30x40 porch. Both are floored by concrete. The contractor had been in business for about 30 years and the stuff I saw was very good. His son worked with him and Dad was planning to retire :thumbsup:. I didn't realize the son really needed to understand what he was doing . The metal work is fine, but the concrete floors are not what I expected. The porch is concave instead of convex, so when it rains all the water ends up in the middle of my covered work area. I usually have to squeegee this stuff off I plan to cut grooves in the concrete so it will become a self-draining surface.
I park my fifth wheel, Case-IH DX24e, and my truck camper under the porch. Since I have a 12x12 door, I can take all the other "stuff" inside the shop where I can (sometimes) work on it. I wish now I had specified in the contract I needed the floor to drain the water off to the sides; then the contractor would have had to come back and fix the problem. .
Does anyone know of an easy way to aid in fixing the slab so it will drain?
