I filled up at Sam's today. The sign said $3.52. When I pumped it was $3.46. I thought I pulled the right handle on the slot machine. It still cost me $70+

PS I'm in SE Louisiana. Maybe I should just go to the coast and scoop up some of the BP oil.

Yup. And likely near $5 by July 4th. We (in Canada) are already paying over $5/g and I do not see it going back down. I purchased a used Mazda 5 last Fall and it gets around 30-32 mpg but I really need to look at alternatives for my Frontier that only gets 15-17 mpg. My choices are a Prius or Volks diesel as I want to be between 50-60 mpg.

Thank god I sold my class A motorhome that only got 7-8 mpg!

This will kill allot of guys like me that are self employed and rely on Diesel power to haul equipment, especially since I am locked mostly in contract work.

I have heard little out of DC, so I think it's safe to assume what I've heard as true, that the "one" in charge is all for higher prices.

Stop and really crush your brain, see all the ramifications for a sudden rise in oil to the heights that are predicted. Tonight on the news they said there has already begone a rapid drop in fuel purchased by Americans and smaller amount bought when purchased. Wont be long and we will have some major decisions to make in our personal spending.

What will happen to this economy will be a self inflicted wound.

I will sure be at the polls in 2012, IF I CAN AFFORD THE FUEL TO GET THERE!!!

And in Australia it's equivalent of about $US 6.50 a gallon

I am not so sure using less fuel is the answer. Hear me out.

Gas stations and oil companies still have fixed overhead. Same with the truckers that transport it to us. Lets say us as Americans use 25% less fuel, well those fixed cost per gallon will just go up and so will the prices. Look at the European countries. They all drive 40 mpg gas and diesel small vehicles but pay $9 per gallon for fuel.

Not saying it will be that bad here but it will reflect in the prices somewhere.
