preserve loquat fruit?

our loquat tree is pumping this yer. i bet I have a good 10# of ripe fruit hanging right now if not more.

what can I do ( if anything? ) to preserve this some way? I havn't seenmuch for loquat fruit.

any ideas?

Interesting, I had never heard of Loquat before, had to Google it. Learn something new every day, I guess.
Looks like Jelly, Jam, or Chutney is a possibility.

Do you have a food dehydrator. I wonder if you could make yourself some Loquat chips to go with your trail mix. Works with apples, bananas and such. Might be pretty good, but like I say I've never had loquat before.

We used to make jelly with them. Use any fruit jelly directions. We also made fruit leather with loquats. They can be dried too. Good luck soundguy. I wish we had some here in Missouri.

I figured by your "screen name" you "jammed allot!!

I never heard of them either, are they similar to any more common fruits?

I work with people who jam alot.. but not me..

actually.. i think I do have a dehydrator.

will look into that.. and heck.. i think betty crocker has a article inthe back of the ole' 'orange' book about preserves. might look into that.

can say I could do the pie for sure though.

will see what turns up..

Have you ever tried freezer jam? My wife makes it with strawberries. Sometimes she makes it with Welch's grape juice concentrate. It is crazy easy. The directions are in the box of sure jell.

havn't.. but will look for some surejell on the way home.. think walmart carries it?
