Yes, I have noticed that. They will probably be the biggest investment into the machine. But I can't really find anything that meets my specifications, without going into the skid steer track systems. They are way overkill, most of them weigh 1500 pounds a side, and are about $15,000.

The ATV tracks are too short, and are a more affordable price tag. But I need something in between.

Are the ATV tracks affordable enough to buy two and link them together?

I don't think I'd want to do that, a system for a ATV is around $3000. That consists of four tracks. A little bit too expensive to muck around with.

right now, I am contemplating whether the track system is going to be a more affordable way to go. I need to find a track system that is close to 80 inches on the ground. Find out if the track system will offset the cost of having all the more hydraulics that the four-wheel-drive articulating machine would have. If you're able to help me find a track system that meets my needs, I'm willing to share whatever I come up with.

What kind of off road terrain do you think you want to travel on? What will the ballence be between, gravel drives, grass, mudd, water, swamps steep incline/decline going to be? Are you going on a daily adventure? Or can you pretty much guess, what the challenges are going to be, Another thing Iam pluging into the design of the machine is functionality, where are you going to access this (ride) at? Ultimatly an attached garage would be the way to go, so access, manuverably, and, ease of load/unload, are important considerations, Also Simplicity+Durability = Reliability, Weight is also an important consideration, and relitive to mobility, If you are spending most of your time in a chair, I would think that how well this machine rides would be high on the list of design factors, LOTS of ways to design a machine, that will do what you want to do, some right some wrong, If you can shed a little more light on daily use, or terrain challenges, that you want overcome, It would help Designg the drive line, Good Luck Eric

The terrain I would be driving on, would very from dirt, gravel, grass pastures. The land around my place is relatively flat, but I have a lot of friends that do ATV trips, and I would like to be a part of that. The consistency of the ride would definitely be a factor, because I spent my whole day in my chair. The track design should be pretty smooth. I live in acreage development area with lots of ATV trails, so I would probably spend a lot of time on those.

yes I have seen this machine, and it is very cool. The difference for me is, that I use a power wheelchair and can't transfer out of it. So I need to be able to back my chair into it and drive from there.

JFTR, that is exactly how the Ripchair is designed:

RipChair

And all this can be yours for the modest sum of $18,500...

the unfortunate part about the Rip chair is that it is designed for someone with a low level disability compared to me. I'm not able to wheel a manual wheelchair, so I'm limited to an electric one. Which makes me in the chair about 600 pounds. Almost everything all-terrain out there is designed for low level disabilities.

I have about 400 dollars and 80 hours into my tracks. They weight approx 200 lbs each. I have designed for approx 1 PSI so I can go on snow. If you don't need to drive on deep snow, go with a single piece of rubber 6 inches wide, use a single row of at least three wheels on each side. Make up U shaped plates to locate the track on the wheels bolted through the rubber to some form of grouser. Smaller the grouser, the easier for the machine to turn (drag a track)

they look good, do you have any photos of them without the tracks on. So I can see a little more detail on how they're built.
