I've suggested another option to folks that have fears of home invasion and of strangers at the door

..... the long range foaming wasp spray that you find in almost any stores these days ......... much easier to find & buy than pepper spray ...... and very nasty to get sprayed with ..... large can easy to handle.

And having it by the door doesn't demonstrate intent .......... "I just happened to have it handy" or "Officer ... I was chasing a wasp around the house when he tried to push in the door".

The only issue is that it is pain reliant like mace ...... where the pepper spray has an involuntary reaction i.e. the wind pipe closes and eyes slam shut.... can't see or breathe ...can't fight.

sweettractors has the right idea...The Judge! I have one with a six inch barrel and I would grab that before anything else for home defense. They come in a variety af barrel lengths. The ONLY ammo to use in a Judge for self or home defense is Winchester PDX-1 .410 shells. The shell contains 3 copper clad discs and 12 BB's, Google Winchester PDX1 and watch the videos. Don't let anyone tell you a .410 PDX1 shell wont stop a bad guy, it is equivalent to a .357 round.

I think he's pulling our leg. He no doubt has spent the money, bought a good weapon, taught her to use it in comfort and she has it sitting close at hand while she hums and knits.

After reading these posts I think it's time to try to find my guns before I really need them. They are loaded but tucked away in a closet someplace. Unless a person can find the gun quickly while half asleep it won't do any good either.

It's your decision, but I'm going to strongly (STRONGLY) suggest you unload the guns yo have stashed (once you find them). That's an accident waiting to happen...
Just keep the one (or two) used for protection (and close at hand) with ammo or a mag close by.
