Mahindra loaders?

So sorry to hear about your son passing. I lost a teenage son, too.

tell me a little bit about the back hoe you have on there. I was thinking about putting one on mine. Where did you get yours and how good do they dig and so on if you dont mind. Is it worth it. Thanks

jleal, mine is the Mahindra, model 3710. Mahindra Attachments & Farm Equipment – front end loaders, backhoes, mowers & more I believe they are manufactured by KMW, who also makes loaders for many Mahindra models.

I don't see how it could possible dig any better than it does. It is a very strong unit that is mounted to a heavy duty subframe. The only problem, and this has nothing to do with the back hoe - 12" buckets like to hold on to moist clay. I understand it isn't as bad if you are using an 18" bucket.

As to whether or not it is worth the cost, I'd say not for the occasional user, but for commercial use, yes. I probably would not have bought one if I had to buy new. I was able to find one a guy was getting rid of. It had very low hours, and I figured since it would go on several different Mahindra models, I could easily re-sell it when I was done with projects on my ten acres.

I guess all the metal is that recycled stuff. Because when you look at the metal it is pourus. The arms on the loader were not pourus just thin. The pipe they had going from one end to the other where the lines lay on top of had some very weird looking metal. I will put photos of the finished job in a few days. I am redoing all the lines now. I welded these plates all around the arm and it holds up good now. I also ran 2 pipes going across instead of one.
Im hoping mine isnt built with that "metal". The ML 275 loader on my 7520 is tweaked and Ill have to straighten it one day [lucky the Tilt Tatch lets me keep it plumb]. I think it happened when my wife took off in a low gear when the 48" forks were on it pointed down in float. Bent the fork frame a bit and the tweaks on the loader and fork agree. The tractor had all 4 AGs fully loaded -- that and BH subframe puts the weight near 11000 pounds. With that leverage I cant blame the loader. I cant see how you would break one unless you constantly have accidents like this. I do a lot of full force loader work with the tractor before and since and see no worsening.

Thanks. going to look into it. I will search for this model

jleal, my guess is you don't have an owners manual with torque specs. You do not use an impact wrench to tighten frame bolts. A torque wrench is the correct tool.

You might use a torque on your CUT...but you can't get enough torque on a full size Utility frame mount with a hand held "wrench"....I use a 625 ft/lb impact and hum "Sweet Home Alabama", especially the front end when he says: "TURN IT UP...." BobG in VA

Larry,
My 6520 4WD, ML275 and 511 BH weighs 11,300 without loaded tires. I weighed it at the local salvage yard. Here is the chart to figure you how much more over 11,300 yours weighs with loaded tires.

Guess you never have used a 3/4 inch breaker bar and a cheater pipe.;) At work we have 3/4 inch torque wrenches for main wheel axle nuts.:D Have you ever checked the torque your impact puts out?

It's rated at 625....it probably puts out 525 ft/lbs or so..I have a 1/2" line on it and it can cut it back some. I've got a set of 3/4" sockets/ratchet/breaker bar, but, as you know, the frame bolts on the full size UT tractors are "significant"....Yeah, me and about 4 other guys broke a 3/4" Craftsman breaker bar knuckle with a 7ft pipe (this was in 1968 when I worked in a rock quarry). The boss asked me to get a new one from Sears..when I got there with the busted breaker the Sears man asked how long of a pipe I had on it...I didn't lie (as there were pipe-end marks half way down the bar..) and said about 7 ft..he gave me a new one...BobG in VA

Thanks Brandi! My tires are 90%+ loaded so Im figuring a ton of water. With the subframe sans BH it probably weighs very near yours with. Thanks for sharing that 11.3K data point.
