chain saw chaps

I've had the Husqvarna helmet & chaps for quite a awhile now. I get a lot of use out of the helmet when using my weed whacker. Amazing how much bounces off the mesh face protector that would would be in your face. I always wear safety glasses also w/helmet.

Where are you buying the chainsaw chaps? I never have worn any before, but you never can tell when, OOPPS. I did have skil saw cut up jeans leg, it was very sobering experience...Jy

I bought mine at the Stihl dealer, but I am sure you can order them from places like Bailey's, Gempler's etc.

I bought chaps last fall and now it feels awkward to run the saw without them. Kind of like driving down the highway without a seatbelt on.

Farm & tractor supplies, chain saw dealers etc. Let your fingers do the walking and call around.

I bought the pants instead of the chaps. Full coverage below the knees, front half of the legs above. Warmer than I like in the summer but better than the consequences of not having them.
Bought them at the Stihl/Husqvarna dealer.
I also like the helmet with hearing protectors and face screen. Had the butt end of a spring loaded sapling smack me right in the middle of that screen once, would have been very unpleasant on the bare face.

Having the running chainsaw drop onto your leg with the chaps on is a very sobering feeling. Having the fibers so quickly bind up the saw and seeing no blood (only kevlar fibers sticking out of the cut chaps) is intimidating, but satisfying.

Good on you for getting the chaps.

Like he said good for you for getting the chaps. And whatever you do do not take them off when it gets hot and you have a 5 minute job to do. In July of 09 I was finishing up the hot day and I had a little 5 minute job left to do and luckily I left mine on. I got my right leg right above the knee and like been there said it is a sobering feeling to see the fibers wrapped into the saw. For me that day it would have been up a very steep incline for 60' plus rocks and thick brush to a manual shift 4 wheeler and a 2 mile ride including 4 gates on 5 strand barbed wire fences that were shut, also in a place with absolutely no phone service whatsoever.

yeah I wear my chaps to test run saws in my shop now.
