Does anyone make a small electric pump that can be used to fill the fuel line and filters after working on the fuel system to save wear and tear on the starter and fuel pump for a diesel?

If you bleed the system properly before cranking, it isn't much of an issue. maybe a little more so with a 4 cylinder 4000 than a 3 cylinder version; but I would be more concerned with proper methods using the original setup than investigating modifications.

It's a poor decision to move a maintainence question that relates to a specific brand and model of tractor away from that brand's forum.

i'm not at all familiar with that vehicle / fuel system, but if it has any sort of bleed screw you should be able to bleed it with a vacuum pump.

i have a gm with a duramax, and it has a small hand pump built into the fuel filter housing for bleeding after filter replacement, but it's weak on mine. they don't sell any service parts for this assembly, and it's a $650 part to replace the housing, so i needed to find another solution. i just pull the bleeder screw out and hook up a mityvac pump to it.

A universal electric fuel pump can be put into the system.... They have 1/4 inch inlet and outlets... and are operated by a 12v source. You don't want a big pump that moves alot of pressure or volume...
Typically a cheap pump from an auto parts store will usually be 3-5 psi and will work great. You'll need a 12v relay to wire it up correctly... After changing filter, simply turn the keyswitch on and let it prime itself up...

Isnt the 4000 gravity fed anyway?? Seems like yo u could open the bleed screw and jsut let it sit there for a few minutes and it should fill the new filter and push most of the air out... Not sure how long it would take... the electric pump would definitely help that.
