I just paid $22 for 6 quarts of Rotella T 15-40 motor oil at wall mart of all places if it is that expencive there cant imagine how much it is in other places.:confused2:

In 2008 I paid $24 for (1 g) of there 5w-40...Oil prices will kill this country, which no one gets yet.

Delo 15W-40 is as much as $4.99 a qt. and $16.49 a gallon at the local Napa store. I was in the local GMC truck dealer last week, and they had it in gallons for $12.45, so I bought 16 gallons.

Yep, last month I paid $4.95 a quart for a couple of quarts of Kohler 10W-30 motor oil for my lawnmower.

I know it's awfull is'nt it.I change the tractor oil once a year Motor, Hydrolic and once is enough. Gas here this morning is 3.92 per.wonder what it will be like in 10 years.

This is why i have almost quit buying qt bottles. I am at the point where i am about to use gallon jugs to add oil from as it saves you money. My tactic now is to shop the sales at auto zone or Advance auto and buy the 5 gts of castrol mobil, whatever and the filter for $15 or less usually. Use these qts for full change or to add and just save the filter for later. Luckily my Saturn and Toyota and lawnmower all use the same filter! Now advance has 5qt jugs of Peak oil and a purolator filter for like $11. Peak i think is the same company as penzoil now and the oil is the same and just in a different bottle, even according to the company.

Just went to Sam's Club. They had 6 gal of rotella for $66. Not too bad.

My local supplier has a 50% synthetic blend CJ-4 15w40 under their own label (Allied Oil and Supply) that I get for $9 a gallon... delivered. At least the last time I bought some about a month and half ago. Check with local oil suppliers for bargains.
I gave up primarily looking at name brands only because I was paying for more than the oil. All those oil ads in industry magazines, race car sponsorships, etc. With the API classifications and the requirements, there is really not much difference is quality from no name brands and name brands of oils. After all, the majority of the Group II and Group III base oil in North America is made by ONE refiner.... Motiva. The majority of add packs are made my ONE producer.... Infineum. Almost every jug of oil on the shelf is blended products from these companies.

I bought 6 cases of 6 gallons per case of Castrol 15W40 back a few months ago at Auto Zone for $9.99 per gallon.
I have not bought anything in QTS in years now. Gallons and 5 QT Jugs are the only way to go.

I operate a small lube distributorship, have Conoco and Chevron mainly that I sell. CJ-4 delo in gallons are 33.50 for a 3 jug case, my cost. My dealer does not make a ton off me either. Top notch oil is going to cost these days, but it's still cheap compared to breaking down, or overhauling, I'll pay the difference for name brand, unless it's going into the machine from the junk yard and it's about to die anyhow.

Sometimes those 'junkyard machines' can fool a person.
I once traded a 4 speed transmission for an old Suzuki 250cc street bike. We carried the bike to the Pinto station wagon to get it to my house.........the wheels wouldn't even turn.
I took that bike home, tore it to pieces, put it back together(with new tires), and other than the tires.............I had under 50 bucks to get it operational.
Sold that bike for 10 times what I had invested in it.............and they still got a 'steal of a deal'. The bike was a collectors item.
67 Suzuki 250 cc 2cyl. street bike. I actually had 2 of them.
