Seat up, can't run rear PTO Chipper

Well I hooked the chipper, flipped the seat up, set brakes, engine still running, and then it stalls/dies if I attempt to engage rear PTO for the chipper. I was able to do this last year with no issues and worked great.

I had my son sit on the seat while I finished chipping a pile of sticks and branches but that won't work again.

Any ideas?

Was hydro set to neutral?

Last year, I never changed it and left it engaged and it worked fine but I tried to put it into nuetral and still no luck.

Simplest solution..... remove the spring under the seat.

(while you diagnose the safety switch....... obviously )

Make sure the mid-pto is off. That has gotten me before.

I had that issue when I first tried to run PTO attachments. For me, the PTO only position lever did not move far enough forward to press the safety switch sufficiently. I added a rubber bumper and that solved the problem.

I have a tlb, On mine I spin the seat around to face the back for the PTO to work

I found it a PITA to rotate the seat around each time I used the chipper. So I installed a hidden bypass switch just for chipping. It's wired in parallel to the safety switch.
