Newbie alert: Non OEM oil choices

Can anyone tell me what they use in their JD3320?

I use the Plus50 Synthetic 0w40 in my 3520, F935, GMC Sierra, GMC Acadia and Honda Accord...long story short, I use it in everything

Before I had the 3520 I used to use Mobil 1 in the GMC, and Rotella T 5w40 Syn in the Honda and F935...got tired of multiple oils so I switched to one "fleet" oil. SOOO much easier on me and they cut me a deal when I buy it by the case. Another thing that rubbed me the wrong way was the M1 switch from PAO to HydroCracked yet the price stayed the same.

Price of JD oil is what? Pour point? I use 0w-20 in all my cars and 5w-30 in my diesels.

Call Mobil CS, they are the worst!

Price of JD oil is what?

Depends on when/how much I buy.

Pour point?

From JD's Site: Oil and Lubricants : Plus-50, 0W-40 it looks like the pour point is -51 C

I got tired of always being a 1/2 quart short to do an oil change when I was using multiple oils, even on my truck, in the winter I'd use the M1 0w30, summers I'd go with 5w30...now with one oil I buy plenty of one, keep it on the shelf and life is good.

You can buy the Deere 0W40 synthetic in 5 gallon buckets for the best deal.
Maybe not the best price in northern ME but you can load up on trips south of portland,

I've been getting my 0w40 in Gallon containers for the same price or less (per quart) as the 5 gal pails...much easier to handle, no material handling problems like spillage, etc.

That's a great deal.
Down here the gallons cost way more compared with the 5 gallons.
Maybe goodwill for the local market there?
I'm age 62 and hoisting those 5 gallon pails around is getting harder.

You might want to talk to them about buying it by the case...Case is 6 gallons. I dont know what they'd charge me if I bought a single gallon...

Since your in Michigan and if you don't want to do a bunch of extra additives. Check on Schaeffer oil. Check cold weather protection by sticking whatever you want (Shell, Chevron) it doesn't matter, and Schaeffer in your freezer and leave it for a couple of days. Take it out and watch how well it pours. Performs just as well in hot climates with a very high viscosity index.
