going to do the 50 hr service on a M7040HD-1.

Anybody use Wix filters instead of Kubota filters for engine and transmission? they around $10 less for the transmission .

Just bought the UDT oil 17.5 gallons cost me $311 with tax!!!

I've never used anything but Kubota filters especially for the transmission. I've read many, many posts about factory warranty not covering other filters but no actual case. I've read many, many stories about saving $10 on a $40,000 machine. I've even read the ones about a $300 to $400 cost for fluids and risking a problem over saving $10 on the filter. I've even read the ones about how filters are built to factory specs by different companies vs cheap name brand ones to compete or be able to sell cheaper at Wal Mart.
I use Kubota filters for transmissions on all my Kubotas.:)

I have the B series, and use the Wix oil and transmission filters. It wasn't price, but my opinion that they are at least as well made (possibly better), the Wix guarantee that they meet all warranty requirements, and they are just easier to find...no chasing the Kubota dealers.

The Kubota transmission filter is made in Japan and I would stick with that. The Kubota engine filters are made in Indonesia and I use Wix engine oil filters on my Kubotas. However if your still under warrenty I would use the Kubota filters just so there isn't any hassle in case something goes wrong.

I have the model and the Wix filters. But I'm saving the Wix filters until the warranty is up. No reason to hassle with Kubota or Wix over their warranties, who does the repairs, and who pays what.

The chance of something going wrong is miniscule but we paranoid types use the Kubota filters for now. $10 more for filters is cheap insurance since you won't be changing filters for another 300 hrs (and quite some time depending on use).

At least you are using quality hydraulic oil. I tried the cheap stuff and the transmission performance was terrible. That hydraulic clutch is picky.

Changed oil at 50 hrs. and then again at 75 hrs. It is the cheapest person that spends the most in the end.

I have not used anything but Kubota filters, but have not really done any research on alternatives; always interested in learning though as I have used Wix on other machines.

I don't think engine oil filters are much of an issue, as very high quality oil filters are made by FleetGuard, Hastings/Baldwin, Wix etc. I'd never be concerned about those. They are likely better than a Kubota, frankly.

But the trans filters are so "custom" and I've never found any other option than the Kubota. That's fine, because it doesn't get changed THAT often and it seems to be quite unique, often times with magnetic rings, etc.

They're kind of niche and there isn't likely a big enough segment for the big filter companies to bother with.

I have used both kubota filters and wix. They both work fine but the price is not much different The biggest savings can come from your fluid. Tractor supply sells their premium udt that meets kubota, deere, new holland specs. You can get 5 gallons for $39. Neither deere nore kubota makes their own oil and as long as meets the warranty specs you will be fine. I have used their fluid in my 2 kubotas, massey and new holland tractors for the last 6 years with 0 problems.

Same here, we have used Ambra, Case, Sinclair I think, as well as Kubota UDT and SUDT and another I forget and no problems.

I believe Ashland does Kubota fluids/lubricants.
