Grapple for DK-40se/hst; best unit for $

I'd love to have something like that in an appropriate size and weight for my machine- but it seems like there's either light duty or unbreakable, and nothing in between in the grapple lineup- from what I've seen available.

To reiterate, the Markham/Gator light duty is anything but light duty for your DK40. You will break your FEL arms/frame before you'd break this thing in my opinion. It would only be considered light duty if you put it on a 100+ HP machine. Then I'd like to add that even though this one is light duty, you really don't want one heavier than this riding around on your tractor all day. And trust me, when you get a grapple, it will be on your FEL a lot. It's that useful. These are my opinions of course, but I think others on here with this grapple would agree.

I agree. I've had an even lighter (280lb) grapple on my DK40se for almost four years and lots of aggressive use. It has a few war wounds but works perfectly.

Just for clarity, when I refer to light duty, I was not referring to any particular grapple; except possibly the one I had in mind, which I don't believe I mentioned in this thread - mfg. by Worksaver, Model FLGR-4062S. It was described as light duty by the landscaping contractor who sent me to see one at a local dealer, and by the dealer when we spoke of its capacity.
From my perspective, the one on Radium's NH is heavy duty as opposed to the Worksaver I mentioned. The terminology is meant by me, at least, to describe whether something is of a particular category, like category 1 or cat 2 for instance. It is not meant to be derogatory in any way. Something a landscaper might use daily might be considered by them light duty whereas if I were using it on a hobby farm it might be medium to heavy duty from my perspective.

And yes, I do plan on using it and keeping it on my FEL a lot:thumbsup:
Wonder if anyone uses more than more then one FEL so as to leave each with its own implement on all the time?:confused2:

BRADCO name is right on side , small piles of pine tree branches showing the grapple in action. I had this on a TC 40 hp HST tractor worked fine just had to be careful not to try and lift to much in one shot. what is your max lift at full hight on your Kioti? one picture of TC40 with unit.

Would that be the Bradco written in white paint on the side of the grapple?:confused2:

What is the plate and other stuff between the front wheels low down?
What is the 'replacement' grapple going to give you that the Bradco one doesn't?

Nice demo photo RADIUM, what is that black protrusion with hydraulic hoses low to the ground between the front wheels? Something to do with a belly mower?

My guess is something to do with a snowblower or rotary broom. I don't know why there would be hydraulics with a front or mid mounted mower.

That's correct it was for the front mount snowblower I didn't remove it that year try to leave it on was a big mistake got hung up a few, But as you can see in the picture the TC 40 had no trouble handling that grapple. the issue is it doesn't open wide enough and with just two claws in the front a lot of material slips through and you need to continuously make piles were a silage grapple has the entire front points that meet. I will post a picture of the unit I'm looking at to give you an idea of the difference. Either way you need a grapple if you have any kind of land clearing or property maintenance to be done, it's probably on the tractor more than any implement I own there's always fall down in the hedgerow or rock piles that need to be moved I haven't used a hay wagon in years why bother loading on the wagon and then having to dump it by hand just grab it and drive to a hedgerow or burn pile and your done the lazy man's way that's me ;-) take care

Sounds like a clamshell rather than standard grapple is what you want. Clamshells, like the ones made by Anbo and WRLong, have a single full width upper jaw and a more vertically oriented bottom jaw. Clamshells are great for collecting and holding lots of small stuff but not so good for other tasks such as logs or firewood etc as the grapple can only hold something it compresses while the standard grapple can also use gravity to hold a load in place. A standard grapple will hold more logs/trees etc securely while the clamshell will hold more small stuff (silage too I gather).
