1104-44T versus 3054T

Where's the diff folks?


I got one of each, both are in a ASV 4810
They look similair and are both perkins even though the 3054 is sold as cat
My 3054 's balancer unit exploded cause the driven balance gear spun a brg and then seized in the bore.

Where to get used parts?

OK,i found a complete 3054 parts engine for $250.
Now i need to find a shop manual for it so i can rebuild my engine.

Anybody has one he wants to sell or know where i can get one beside the cat dealer?

Is there a way to cross this cat 3054 over to a perkins so i can get gaskets and such from perkins instead of trough the cat dealer?

The small "CAT" engines I've worked on also had a Perkins ID tag on them.

Well,there is a printed perkins specs sticker on the block,but it's all but readable(paint/ink is wiped off)

We call them Perkapillars. Back when I worked for Mustand I was told that Cat owns Perkins. Not sure of that and we all know about the whole Ford owns Cummins myth.

Well,Cat owns perkins and perkins has no info or parts for the 3054 even though it is perkins build.
I'm sure both engines use the same parts but both work with serial and parts # and neither will or can cross reference them.

There are several versions of accessories, fuel system and mountings but in general its the same motor. Are both mechanical injection?

Check your engine mount that is threaded into the oil pan! Common place to lose oil and seize your motor.

yes they are mech injected(stanadine DB4 pumps,altough not identical)

The engine mounts are bolted to the block,not to the oil pan.( i keep a close eye on them anyway,i heard of them getting loose and losing oil trough them)
