JD4300
Hello everyone. I am a new member with a new tractor. I just purchased a 2001 JD 4300 with 900 hours. This is my first tractor, and It was delivered Friday afternoon. I am having difficulty hooking up the new RT1157 57 tiller attachment that I purchased with this tractor. The 3 point lift does not fit onto the tiller, I slid the receiving brackets in closer so the 2 lower hydraulic 3 pt units align up, but still difficult, The top stabilizer is way to long. and doesn't come close to lining up with the pin on the tiller.
No manual on the tiller, and the dealer is closed for the weekend.
When I hooked up the 2 lower 3Pt to the tiller, the tiller was way over to one side so it rubbed onto the tire of the tractor. Is that a balance issue?
How do you solve that?
I would appreciate any help.

Welcome to TBN. Obviously the tiller should not be rubbing on the tire of the tractor! I'm having a hard time envisioning how that could happen. To prevent attachments from moving sideways there should be a bar attached to each of the lower lift arms. The bars should contain a series of holes through which pins are inserted that prevent movement.

Call 1-800-522-7448 to see if they can help you get a manual.

I understand, There are bars with a series of holes on the lower two, but no pins in those bars. I will put some pines in them to prevent the side movement to hit the tires.
I think the bigger issue is the balance on the tiller, as well as the top part of the 3 pt being to long. Are there different size adjustable bars for the top unit?
Thank you for the 1-800 number, I will give it a try.

The top of a 3 point hitch is commonly referred to as the "lift link" and its length is adjustable by turning (screwing and unscrewing) the center portion. They are available at most tractor supply stores like TSC or Rural King. Your JD dealer would also have them in stock but at 2X or 3X the price of the other stores. Be sure to get one that is classified as a "category 1" which is what the JD4300 uses. I don't know for sure but I'm assuming lift links can be bought in various lengths?
