How do i mix roundup??

Hi there, I'm planning to spray a section of my lawn to re-seed and I'd like to kill it all 1st with roundup. I have a jug of agricultural/industrial "roundup ultra 2" concentrate and my sprayer holds 200 liters. Not sure now much roundup to add assuming i mix a full 200 liters. Thanks for any help.

I mix my concentrated herbicide 4oz to a gallon of water..

Don't know much, about them liter things.

Like loghouse511, I don't know anything about liters, but I mix 2 1/2 oz of Roundup Ultra to a gallon and it works for me. Using more won't hurt, but that stuff is expensive and we go through a lot.

The instructions are on the label. Read it and follow them.

These are really rough numbers, but 200 liters is about 53 gallons. That would be about 133 oz of round up or 1 gallon( 3.78 liters)

TripleR hit it, using too much (within reason) won't hurt, so I'd just use it all and keep going until the sprayer is empty.

Also, I always add some dish soap. This helps to spread the roundup more evenly on the leaves.:thumbsup:

Good to know, I usually add crop oil.

Actually, using too much can hurt. Although there is some leeway before you hit this point. The thing homeowners do too often with Roundup and similar herbicides is apply too high a concentration in hopes that it will kill the plant better or faster. The problem comes when the top of the plant is killed too soon and the plant vascular system does not carry the chemical to the root system. The tops die, but the plant recovers.

The trick is to mix the correct ratio and give it time to work. Too fast and you get to do it all over again.

I was going to say the same thing. I was having a hard time getting a "good" kill of my weeds, as they would recover within two to three weeks after turning brown. My neighbor told me I was using too much. I can't remember the exact percentage of my concentrate, and I'm too lazy to walk out to the barn to look at the label, but I think it's close to a 50% concentration. He told me to use 1.5 oz per gallon for grass/weeds and 3.0 oz per gallon for shrubs/undergrowth/small trees. That mixture has worked well for me. It won't burn the plants down in a day or two, but it will work over the course of a week or so.

How much area do you have to spray? 53 gallons can cover a good sized area.

I have about an acre to spray and I also want to fill my 20 liter spot sprayer for around the edges of my gravel driveway

No offense but if you can't figure that square footage of the area you need to spray and then figure it out how much to use using the directions on the label then you have no business applying a product like this.

Johnrex is correct. I was having issues with the spray I use and ended up contacting the manufacturer to figure out the problem. Turned out I was mixing it too hot. The manufacturer stated that mixing it too hot would shock the plant/weed and it would not absorb the chemicle as a result. I went online, found the proper mixing ratio, and haven't had any issues since.

2 oz. per gallon of Roundup Ultra has killed everything I have sprayed with it except large trees. This ratio has worked for me for many years.

Thanks to you guys for providing that info....makes sense when you think about it. My mindset for saying not to worry about using too much was more in the context of it won't hurt anything.....and I guess that must be true; won't even hurt the stuff you want to hurt:laughing:

What did they consider "too hot"?

One thing I have noticed new users doing is improper application i.e. drenching the plants. Some herbicides do require a thorough drenching, but in my experience Roundup does not.
