na...my wife wants a 100 x 300 indoors arena for carriage driving.... not going to happen.

She'll have to kill me and use the life insurance if she wants that lol:laughing:.

Hope she doesn't read this and get some ideas:mad:

Sort of wonder if the OP has left the building? Maybe the husband found out his thoughts were being questioned.

How can she tell what the horses want? or is it what she thinks they want. I think all the horses want is grain, shade, hay, more grain....

They SPEAK to her.
SURELY you knew THAT much already ?
(-:

They say they like to have their nails done every 5 or 6 weeks.
Not all of them want shoes, but if they do they want new ones every time they have their nails done.
Some want shoes on all four, some just on two.
Some go barefoot several months of the year, largely a fashion season thing.

They're fussy about the surfaces that they walk on.
Their shoes and the walking/running/jumping surface are the subject of some complexity
and very long conversations.
They like to do tricks, like carrying humans around while running and jumping.
They DO tell women that they like to be dressed in fancy expensive clothing, however adequate their natural coats may be.
They ask for a coat trim, then ask for a blanket.

Grass, grain and hay are just the basics - they like apples, carrots and peppermints too.

Most of this information comes to me via women.

My wife can just look at our horses and tell what they want. It does no good to argue with her because she knows I can't read their minds.

I don't know what kind of arena surface my horses prefer but I know I want it as level as possible when I am running them because if they stumble I will be the one who pays the price.

I have been told that they like a soft surface to land on, but one that isn't too deep for them to have to drag their hooves "through" (if that makes any sense ?).
.
Again, this is second hand information via members of the fairer gender.

The pain you are reminding me of is too much. Anyone who thinks they are reading humor here clearly isn't what I do. Don't forget that the footing has to have the correct moisture level.

I'm not sure but I think if it's too dry, the dust will hurt their lungs and if it's too moist, their hoofs will rust.

Ahh yes, the Mag Chloride savings account.
Can't have dust, can't have wet slop.

Aluminum shoes don't "rust", they just co$t more, which is what makes them SO desirable.
Of course Mag Chloride EATS regular aluminum, so they have to be a very Special alloy.
