my headlight sockets are toast on my kubota B7100. i'm going to install sockets and bulbs from the auto parts stores.

are regular 9005 automotive headlight bulbs total overkill?

the only other sockets they have are for like parking brake kind of bulbs. they seem really small for headlights - but then again the stock lights weren't that big. but i never got a chance to use them so not sure, maybe i'd like the improvement?

i've never used headlights on a tractor before so i'm kind of clueless.

You may run into one or more of the following problems:
How to mount the 9005 lamp assembly.
The heat generated by the halogen lamp will melt everything around it.
Do you have enough alternator and headlamp wiring to run them?

I think I would be tempted to replace with sockets that would take the standard lamp... And add work lights for additional lighting.

If you get it to work and the mounting or heat is not to great a problem. It may be a good upgrade in lighting. KennyV

+1....The standard lights don't provide much illumination anyway. I'd just add some ROPs lights, bearing in mind that the dynamo puts out something like 10 amps.

I also recommend ROPS lights - ESPECIALLY if you have a front-end loader. For those of us with low output electrical systems, consider LED based work lights. They cost more initially, but have considerably lower power requirements compared to more traditional lighting options.

Great, thanks guys, I'll return the automotive style I bought and aim for some LED's of some sort.

I guess there's probably already some threads with ROPS installed lights?

Where are folks getting these?

If you only use lights occasionally, you can use the conventional halogen type which you can buy everywhere for $10. Two at once tap out the dynamo and borrow a little from the battery, but are fine for a few hours.

Once you price the LEDs this might sound more appealing.

G'day all,

the 15 watt bulbs in our B2150 are next to useless and I have been looking for higher wattage bulbs.

In my internet travels I have found the bulb could best be described as a
T19, MPF or a P15d-25-1.

The standard incandescent bulbs seem to be available in 15W, 25W or 35W,
6V, 12V or 24V

35 watt halogen bulbs are available (Philips call these an M5). caution they may be detrimental to the plastic lense....

Motorcycle parts suppliers (in England) seem to be the best source of supply.

good luck !

This is very helpful info.. thanks for sharing it.

I have been trying to get my hnads on replacement bulbs elswhere than from the dealer, and this info will help me search for replacements somewhere else.

The Kubota Service manual and part sbooks are useless as far as any specific info.

They don't tell you the wattage of bulbs, nor the output of the dynamo.
