I like the homemade kit you guys are doing. I'll follow this to see how things turnout. It will be stronger than the jd kit and you both are using the holes the kit mounts to. Using anything larger than 1/8" will be heavier than the kit. Hindsight I should've done this.

Well,I checked them out and they're GTG.
I had to enlarge the holes in the bars from 1/2" to 9/16", and I didn't need that much of an angle either.
The 8-5/16" hole center dimension was just bit short of working out. Going up to 8-3/8" would have been too much the other way. Really hard to get an exact measurement.Probably a goofy 32nd number or even metric!
Anyway, they still fit nice and snug. When I lower the 3PT,the deck drops about 1/4", and the lower brackets don't move at all.

If anyone is thinking of going this route,don't use what I had for center to center. I'm guessing measurements are going to differ slightly from tractor to tractor.

Greg where exactly does it hook up on the bottom? The top looks like it goes in the frame but not sure about the bottom?? Does that hold them ears up?? (Don't know what you would call them??) Thanks in advance!!!

They are just called the LH and RH lower brackets in the JD parts breakdown I'll take a better pic when I get home.
Yewah they hold those "ears" up.

That's awesome!! That is one of the things that worried me the most hanging down!!! Got some scrap steel here at work that I could punch a couple of the out quick.... are you using the snap over pins in both? I would hate to have to unbolt it every time to use the mower??? Also your demension are from center to center?? Thanks!!!

Yes,but like I stated,don't use mine. I'm thinking that will vary slightly from tractor to tractor.

I found these today at work but they measure 8 7/8" from hole to hole.... They already have 1/2" holes in them...
