My cheap pole shed.....

I needed a roof for my toys, and none of my buddies were ever able to offer much help, so I built this with very little help. I did not have electricity, so all was done with 18V tools. I wanted to minimize costs also. Someday, I may pour a slab and wire this if electricity is delivered, and maybe even enclose it. But for now, it keeps the rain off. I also collect rainwater of the roof into a cistern for washing implements.

Compared to some of members fancy outbuildings, I am somewhat reluctant to show this, but for those of you who like rustic and cheap, here it is.

I looked at a book on sheds that was on the shelf at Home Depot, and used some ideas from that, but basically, just winged it from there. Found the galvanized cross braces at my local scrap yard for $2.00 each, and thought they were easier to attach and cheaper than 2x4s. The whole thing is connected with 1/2" lags or bolts, and screws. I did not use any nails. I love my little Makita impact driver. I originally planned to side it with vertical board and batten green roughcut lumber, but decided without electricity, it would be too dark inside.

Hey, that is really a nice structure! I'm impressed-nothing wrong with rustic in my book. I like the way you've done the area under the eaves, and especially the horns! Is that a hammock I see under there?

For little money you can get a cheap solar charger and a deep cycle battery that will power enough flourescent lumens to set you up nicely. I guess it depends on how much time you spend there. If you spend more than a day or so at a time you may need a few batteries.

Nice shed, though.

That's one nice toy shed. Excellent carpentry.:thumbsup:

I built my equipment shed 2 years ago the same way--by myself with 18V tools (mostly).
