I assume I could run a 7 foot rotary cutter with the MX4100?

After you stop at the JD and Kabota dealerships, take time to check out that Mahindra dealer, too. You can't go wrong with any of your choices....but the 5035 HST should at least be looked at. If you do a lot of mowing, you might consider a cab'd tractor though.... good thing to have if you are working out in the dust. The big 35.5" 14 X 17.5 front tires make everything look out of proportion....but here is a picture of mine. Good luck looking....that is half the fun. [ the buying and paying for is the hard part ]
JerryK,
That Mahindra 5035 is sure a nice looking tractor I must say.

Agreed, that thing is BEEFY! Love the backhoe, probably won't be springing for one of those initially though. :(

Even thought the Kioti is further away, take a ride and look at the DK45SE HST with CAB or DK50SE HST with CAB. I just got the DK50 and love it. That CAB makes being out in the 98 deg weather easy! Especially if you are going to be doing a lot of cutting. I would also assess if you need to put a 4n1 or grapple on it to help with any clearing.

Like others have said you've dialed in your needs pretty much. You really can't go wrong with any of the major players. I'm partial to Deere but wouldn't hesitate to go with Kubota or Massey or Mahindra. In my case the Deere dealership was the closest. With 22ac IMO look for something around 40 - 50 HP. With that you can step up to an 8ft rotary cutter with ease and that will make cutting that weed patch a breeze and you'll still have time at the end of the day to go riding:) Weight is your friend (or foe) depending on what you're doing. Because you already have a ZTR for your lawn I'd forgo the finish mower for the fields.

Good luck.

Agreed, you can't buy a bad tractor new from any of the top five or so and even a different color may be the same tractor. My preference is Kubota, but I like them all with dealership playing a very important roll in what we own. We do have red and green tractors as well as orange.

If you are looking for bang for your buck check out the Kioti DK40se or DS4110 open station along with equivalent Mahindra tractors. You will need more loader lift and tractor weight than the Kubota B3700 to safely handle full round bales and except for the L4400 I think you'd pay about $10K more for the Kubota or JD equivalents of the Kioti and Mahindra.

I was in a similar situation as you, just a few less acres. I'd look for a good used tractor in the 35 HP range (no less). I only know kubotas. they make good stuff and with care are a good investment.
You will find uses for 4WD, it basically allows you to use more of the HP you have.
Be patient, scour all sources for used tractors, get your financing ready to buy quick if needed. and, you may get good pricing on some implements with a used tractor. box blades are typical. my used kubota had a dented hood which knocked several hundred off the price. the dealer had a scratched one that a customer refused on a new tractor - got it cheap and now she looks great. it will fall into place, just leave yourself some latitude on the models you will accept. and have fun with it - that's why you bought the farm in the fist place.

The Kioti dealer offered a DK35SE HST with KL351 loader and Rhino 160 cutter for $21,300. He advised against HST as it's an $1800 option on the Kioti. Says he's only sold a couple HST models of that tractor in the past two years.

He also offered the DK35SE gear/shuttle with loader, same cutter, Union box blade, and a grapple for $21,400 + 3% tax = $22,042.00 The loader is "free."

How much more am I looking at for a MX4700 with loader, cutter, and HST?

The loader for the DK35se lifts a bit more than 1500lbs. I'd suggest you need more to easily handle full rounds. The loader on the DK40se and DS4110 lifts 2700+lbs so would be a better choice. Not a huge difference in price either.

I have the DK40se HST and love it. If you do a lot of loader and grapple work it is really nice. For mowing and field work not such an advantage. By the way I also care for about 25 acres half of which needs clearing.
