Loving the recommendations so far, thanks!

I hadn't considered the MX4700, but it sure is sounding appealing now... sounds like a bit more than I need, but would likely end up being just right.

I looked at the 4700 and the 5100 but for alittle more money i would go with the m5040 way more tractor than the two listed above. I would always go alittle over hp then regret going to little hp.Cant never have to much tractor!!!

Was just going to say that a co-worker bought a New Holland workmaster 55 the same time i purchased my m5040 and he has had nothing but troubles with it.One problem was that he would have to work the shuttle level to get it to start, then it was leaking oil since new, they ended up having to brake the tractor in half to replace the main seal. Now he saying that in 4x4 its making a loud whinning noice.I let him take the kubota for a ride and you could just tell he knew he made a mistake. Also my neighbor has a New Holland 100hp and says they cant keep the a/c working, but he has a bigger NH i think its a 135hp that he said is a great tractor, never any issues.

Still haven't bought... paying off some other smaller things first.

How much cheaper should a roughly equivalent Kioti be compared to a Kubota? I kept hearing 10K on this forum. However, a quote I got for a DK40 was only 2-3K less than a quote for an MX5100. Are these not really equivalent tractors despite the 10hp difference? Both were 4x4, R4s, HST, loader. I'm sure a DK50 would come in even higher than the MX5100.

Im guessing they should be close in price if you can find two tractors of same in both then get the dealers to try and beat each others price. From what i know about koiti Dk50 its more like the kubota m5140,Mx5100 is just athere basic 50hp tractor kinda like the DS series in kioti. Im just guessing the lower hp DK series maybe more like the kubotas grand L series but I dont think so.

The Kubota MX is roughly comparable to the Kioti DS. The Grand L is the usual competition for the Kioti DKse line. The first two are more utilitarian and lots of bang for the buck. The GrandL and DK have a lot of extra niceties.

I've never heard of a $10K difference between equivalent HP Kubota and Kiotis. More like $4-5K if both dealers are discounting.

I just read through the thread and am a bit perplexed with some of the dialogue, as I am also looking at another tractor and have used a few different criteria. .... I need a tractor capable of handling significant weight with the front end loader, but since I keep up 41 acres, I also need to heavily consider the hp out the rear to shred the pastures. I currently use an old 57 hp tractor with 52hp out the pto to shred with, and am constantly wishing for more hp or a multi gearbox shredder. (My 6 ft shredder does not develop the blade tip speed necessary to effectively shred thick bahia mid summer at a decent ground speed.) ....I plan to solve this with a 15 ft batwing of specific choice(high blade tip speed) and an upgrade to a smaller 4WD tractor/FEL with as much hp running out the back as possible.

....Taking this all into consideration, I have settled on the Mahindra 5035 for the tractor of choice. There will still be times that it is a bit undersized, but the versatility of the smaller frame will make up for it when using the FEL. ...I considered others, and looked at the HST options quite closely, but felt the loss of PTO hp would definitely drop mowing performance to unacceptable levels. (Sizing this closely can mean the difference between 'crawling' around a pasture with a couple less hp, or just mowing on through.) ...Weight is another issue when working with a FEL or any ground work, and the Mahindra is hard to match in the price vs. weight arena. ....And last but not least, the dealer is 10 miles away, and selling that specific batwing cutter I want.

An all around tractor is a VERY complex choice, and something that often leaves one with specific regrets. ....I hope you find exactly what you need for your situation!

We recently sold our M5040. Awesome tractor!

Now looking at a M7040.

Salesmen and users alike will tell you that the regret is always buying the smaller machine, not the larger:eek:

Never did buy when I posted this thread. Now I'm considering a John Deere 4105. 40hp. I talked more to my wife and she has no plans to use round bales so I think I will be fine with a tractor this size for my other tasks. Plus the deal I found seems good, and I know how good JD resale is if I ever needed to do that.

Anyone have experience with these? All are 4wd, HST, JD quick attach.

Personally, I wouldn't go with the 4105 unless you have good deal on one. The 4105 has the same loader as the 3x20 series, so it isn't as strong as a different 4000 series in those terms. I'd either look at a 3720 or a 4120. Without baling though I don't think you would need anything more than a 3x20 series. A cab would be nice too:thumbsup:
