Suzuki Samurai?

My biggest concern is fitting into one. I'm 6'4" so I may have problems. Never have sat in one.

Thank you

If you have trouble fitting into a Suzuki, you will surely also have trouble fitting into a UTV. I would think a Samurai would make a great off-road vehicle, but I'm not sure I'd want to make one do double duty. It seems that if you get it rigged well for off-road use, it might not be suitable as a commuter, especially with a full complement of brush guards, rollover cages, winch, etc. Of course, I see impractical 4WD vehicles on the road all the time. It's the macho man thing to drive.

You can't use "macho man" and "Suzuki samarai" in the same thread!

My college roommate had one. I had a 89 S-10 Blazer with the 4.3L and his little Suzuki would go places my Blazer would never consider. It was too much fun but cold as heck in the Norther Indiana Winters we have.

A local "hellraiser" has one with a lift kit and a 318 Dodge under the hood.
Very fast on a straight away, terrifying in a curve.

I've got 3 samurais as my username suggests. Don't discount the Tracker/Sidekick. All of them fuel injected, nice ride, and a lot cheaper than samurai's now at least up here. I've got two of them as well.

The samurai has amazing aftermarkets support through a dozen or more venders, the sidekick is slowly getting there but its a more difficult vehicle to modify.

Don't discount the Tracker/Sidekick

One of my brothers, or perhaps I should say his wife, had a Sidekick for several years and put a lot of miles on it. When they were selling their home and going back to full time RVing, they decided to sell the Sidekick and sure enough the next day it wouldn't start. We towed it over to my shop where we had better working conditions and equipment, figured out right quick that the starter was the problem and pulled the starter off. He was going to town to get a new starter, but we decided to take the old one apart first out of curiosity to see what was wrong with it, and when we cleaned it up and put it back together, it worked just fine again.

I ran a fleet that had twelve of them in it in the 80s. They were indestructable off road and extremely uncarlike on road:D
The weekend would come and would be hard to find one in the motorpool -- seems like they were always in the backcountry on fishing and hunting trips.
Tough to find one for a decent price these days.

I've been looking into buying an UTV. As you know they are pricey for what you get! So I've been considering other alternatives.

One alternative is a Suzuki Samurai. They are very small yet have 4wd and are street legal. Anyone have experience with them? My biggest concern is fitting into one. I'm 6'4" so I may have problems. Never have sat in one.

Thank you

What is a query about a car versus UTV doing in a tractor forum in the first place? Wife and I thought about buying one for a work commute vehicle when they first came out. For me, who was driving a work truck the size of a Ford F-800 the Suzuki felt like a coffin. Never purchased one.

I've been in them. I have driven the predecessor, I think an SJ410. A buddy got one, flipped the axles, put a Weber, header, and some other stuff on it. It did pretty well when we were out wheelin.

I am biased though; I was practically born in a Jeep(Ford GPW actually...). I'd rather have a M38A1 or one of the older short fender CJ5's. Plus, if you search, you can get PTO and 3pt setups for older Jeeps.

The Samurai is actually a lot like the early Jeeps. Small, maneuverable, under powered, but reliable. If you look at an old MB or CJ2A, well, there you go.
