This guy has been coming in and I have only heard rumurs from the "wife", finally this after noon he came in for a drink. Ironic to see a real one over a concrete look alike owl:laughing: he stayed about 30 minutes just sitting in the water.

Earlier this morning the dogs started really raising cane, I thought it was a burglar:) in the yard since they have never went nut's like this. Looked in the front yard, 4 mama cows and 6 calves!! I wish I would have got a photo ,but was busy trying to save the wife's flower garden.

Got them to the water trough and they drank for 30 minutes, then I led them back to the road with some hay. I have never seen these particular cows and don't have a clue where they are from, but if they are still around by Monday I will call the Sheriff. If they are like mine where, they "know" where home is.

Dennis, our little town looks at 4 months of water use (Nov., Dec., Jan., & Feb.), throws out the highest one, averages the other 3 and bases our sewer charge on that, so the sewer charge stays the same each month for a year. At the present time, ours is $43.54 a month, plus $9.92 for weekly garbage pickup, $5.00 drainage fee, and $0.82 garbage sales tax. So last month, with 10,702 gallons of water for $49.32, our total bill was $108.60. And I've watered the yard more for the upcoming bill; just hope it ain't over $150.

Well, the new water bill arrived in the mail today; $162.80. All the charges are the same except for $103.52 for 21, 125 gallons of water.

Bird,
A lot of the secrets of delicious cooking is in the little "nacks" that aren't really in the receipt. My wife learned the secret of making her tremendous pie crust many years ago from an old railroad engineer's wife who was our neighbor in California. He worked the mountain engine runs through the snow tunnels and really enjoyed good food when he got home.
My wife's Hungarian grandmother who came to this country in 1905 taught
her to make delicious home cut noodles. We eat lots of veggies but it is
apparrent we like our carbs better.

I'd say my creek is getting seriously low.

Bird, we'll have to stop in on the way back home. Maybe we can buy some frozen ones and cook them at home. A hot fried peach pie covered with fresh sliced peaches might make me hurt myself. I'm sure a scoop of vanilla ice cream would enhance the flavor too.

The one sure way to make pie or cobber even better....."Blue Bell".

You got that right sir!

X's 2!! Hard to eat a cobbler without some good BB Vanilla.

Forecast is in the 100's for the next 7 days, which is normal for this time off year, at least that's what I keep telling myself:) I think the drought will be the biggest "killer" to our farming and wildlife in Texas, most likely in other plains states as well.

I keep trying to get myself to go fishing, but have constant "flashbacks" of the last time I went and it hit 106* . Used to go night fishing allot when I was younger, but really never thought of the heat as much when I was a kid it seems like.

Bird, I think I remember you mentioning frozen, so I thought that was how they were sold. It makes sense that they are pre-fried because not everyone at home would have a fryer to cook them. If they have non-frozen pies, those are probably the one's we'll get.

Brin: I believe in the rule that if you can get somebody else to eat twice as many as you, then your calories don't count.:licking::D

 Yeah Jim, that is like if a bear is chasing you and a friend all you have to do is outrun your friend...LOL....I get it... Works for me !
