Big trouble with new Diesel.

At this point if you want, you/ lawyer could probably get them to take back the truck. But didn't you buy that body on your own? not part of the sale from the dealer?

That's the sticky part, I don't see how they would have to reimburse you for any lose there.

Your gonna end up with a flatbed sitting on blocks in your yard til you find another truck. I think that's why this dealer feels they can jerk you around like that, cause you have something to lose as well as them.

At one time I avoided dealers like the plaque, I'm still not completely comfortable with them, but have never been treated that badly.

Obviously if you buy new like I did 3 times in 12 years you have to deal with them. Just make sure you get it all in writing, like with my wife's 99 grand caravan we needed with 3 little kids. To close the deal the finance guy said we would have lifetime oil changes, but after the 4 year loan was up they claimed there was no such thing as lifetime oil changes. Until I produced a copy of a note I made him write on our papers, the guy doesn't even work there anymore but they still change the oil, top all fluids and do a safety check every 3500 miles, 12 years later.
I've never ever had to climb under that car until just recently :)

The flat bed was part of the deal. It is in the original sale agreement. in fact the check to pay for the flat bed is from the dealership. the only thing I did was drive the truck to the truck center to have the bed installed. Hook line and sinker, ain't in it!

Well that's better for you for sure, I'm sure they will say that the body was a special order that can't be returned, but since they paid for it, it's would be theirs if you reversed this deal.

Good luck, keep us informed.

Stopped by the dealership yesterday, to inform them of the letter they would be getting from my lawyer, and to try to get them to work something out. The service manager confirmed he told management that the truck needs new wheels, and tires. He showed me a price he got for six wheels, and tires $2750.00 16x6.5. The sales manager has authorized $900 towards the price of the wheels, and tires. The service manager confided to me that the dealership only made $1400 off the sale of the truck, Before tires, and wheels, they have $1900 (their cost) in parts and labor for other issues. That does not include what they spent to have the wheels balanced, and an alignment done. I am starting to think that the dealership would like me to walk away and take a refund, so they could resell the truck and get some of the money back. Am I being paranoid?

The service manager confided in you? Ha! Service managers are not normally privy to the details of the dealership's sales transactions. And dealerships are very good at not giving out any info that they don't want you to have, or that isn't calculated to work in their favor. I'm not saying that they carefully revealed a bit of false data in a way that would make you feel sympathetic, but that could easily be the case.

It is irrelevant anyway. Concern yourself only with your side of the transaction and your goal of coming away from this mess fairly whole, whether that is with the truck or without.

How much money they made is not your problem. I would have let them keep that truck right then and there and taken my refund and a cab ride home.

I think you have to step back a little and let the lawyer handle it since you've gotten him involved.. Earlier you said "Going to see the lawyer today. He is going to deal with the truck from now on", yet you still went down to the dealer and advised them a letter was coming. Sometimes lawyers don't always do things as quick as they say, suppose the letter takes several days.

If I were in your shoes I'd do what some of the others are suggesting and just try to have the lawyer get my money back and walk away, there are always other trucks to be had.

Like Chris said, If the wheels are not right, what next?? Not much has been mentioned about the former life of this truck, like what was it used for, why the 19.5 wheels, was it overloaded with feed and fertilizer, used for heavy towing, coffee truck idling all day, etc.
Like they say in Brooklyn, just Fuhgeddaboutit.

What a load of crap. Bait and switch, showing a bill for full retail. Odds are, they are shopping around for a set of take-offs. Probably 6 steel's and covers which they'll claim was original per the VIN. They are buying time and nothing else at the moment.

Since you enlisted a lawyer though, it is time to step back and wait.

They are very likely trying to cut every corner they can to wrap this deal up with you. I would never trust whatever they end up doing to that truck. You must get out of this deal & let it be their problem & theirs alone.

Like others have said I would stand back and let your lawyer do the work. At this point getting your money back is looking like the best option. My concern is that the dealer most likely has their own attorney(s) looking at this situation and have hatched a plan to salvage the situation for themselves. Get advice from your attorney on what your involvement should be. Good luck with this.....Gary
