Any one from Nova Scotia Canada that has Registered a kubota tractor. I got a mess of different info when I got the tractor Registered. It was Registered as a farm tractor in the paperwork that costs $23.98 and I was charged the price of a Miscellaneous Equipment Registration, backhoes, loaders, cranes, etc. (Jan. 1 - Dec. 31) for a price of $42.29. found this out from this link ( Service Nova Scotia - Registry of Motor Vehicles - Schedule of Fees (effective July 1, 2011) )Now as we know with the Miscellaneous it's got to be Registered every year to get the stickers but the farm tractor is Permanent. Did something get messed up here? also i was giving 2 plates and told they both had to be displayed on the front and the rear of the tractor. (I have a 2011 B26) I have a spot I can put the back plate I think. But the front there's no place to put it that it can been seen. also the plates are GT plates so different yet again.

Is there anyone that can help me out with info on what I should be getting with a registration for a farm tractor?

Sounds like the same thing I went through registering my 3240.The people at Access Nova Scotia didn't really seem to know what to register the tractor as.They ended up giving me GT plates which I have to renew each year. They said to be registered as a farm tractor,I would have to be a registered farmer which I am not.As far as mounting the plates,I sandwiched them together back to back, and mounted them on the rollbar. That way they can be seen from either direction.

thank you that makes some sence but the plate ides is not much good for me with the 4 post fops. I dont want them hanging down from the roof as i get on and off the back to use the backhoe and being im clost to 6foot tall i hit hit my head on the rear worklights as it is now and the plate would be A: blocking the lights or B: I'll be wearing out my hardhats, or having a lot of headaches.

I was thinking about putting one plate on at the back of the fops not haging but sticking up past the roof top in the center but as for the front .... well I dont want it near the rad blocking airflow and it wouldnt been seen cause of the loader anyways. and out of all the gear I had to road on the road liek backhoes and loaders well there was always just ONE GT plate on the back and nothing in the front anyways.

so I might try and find some more info from RCMP if I really MUST have 2 plates or if cant just have the one plate in the back center of the plastic roof

as you can see in this pic the roof has a thick spot in the center i could drill and mount the plate then seal the holes with somthing once its on there to keep water out

ok so silly me it turns out that with the sice of the plates here in Ns. and the size of the clear "glove box" on the back of the seat all i had to do was curl the side edges of the plate back a tiny bit and then its a jam fit right in the glove box on the back of the seat. saves alot of work from drilling holes in the plastic roof and sealing them up again too :D

I hope you have better luck with the RCMP than I did.I called the RCMP,HRP,and Access Nova Scotia to find out the laws regarding driving a tractor on the side of the road. All I got from all of them was vague answers and speculation, they really didn't seem to be familiar with the laws.I hardly drive on the roads so I just use common sense when I do.I do know you are supposed to have insurance, same as an auto.I know of two farmers that regularly drive in the roads and they only have one beat up plate on each tractor. They are never bothered by the police,at least not yet.

In my part of the world (Manitoba) I believe we just need to have insurance for liability. I have my Kubota BX2660 and my JD 310C listed with my home insurance. Each costs me about $100 a year.

I've never seen a plate on a farm tractor in praries that I can remember.

FM or FT plates are differnt form the GT plates I have do get the farm tractor plate you must be a farmer. I am not, unless anyone here wants to buy the carrots from my garden lol. but I doubt the NS gov. will buy that one. As for seeing tractors going with only one plate all the time... yeah I see the same thing out here in the valley also even. All the tractors and loaders I ran at work only had the one GT plate on the back of them never in the front.

Also because I maybe taking this thing out and doing some work with it for others. I had to get commercial insurance so I was glad they didnt try to make me get a commercial plate.

korydz I think your lucky to be where you are lol.
