Very glad that OP has the problem taken care of to his satisfaction, and not to knock Toyota, but does anyone remember when they were having all those recalls on numerous vehicles sometime during the last two years? Cannot help but wonder if the lost market share and reputation damage they sustained during that period has led to improved customer service these days. Our family is mostly GM and GM retirees so we have never owned much except GM vehicles. But because of the excellent reputation Toyota had in the past, I did look at their trucks and thought them the best made of any Asian branded model.

The facts are it wasn't a forced recall. And Toyota paid me 150%($12,400) of the excellent condition blue book value for my beat to ****, 212K hard miles 2002 tacoma with a 1/4" hole in the frame right next to the hanger.
They did step up and we haven't forgotten that.

Exactly. My Taco still has a mint frame (darnit) but the fact that Toyota stepped up without the gov't forcing them to speaks volumes.

Some could question whether they even had the obligation to, as rust is a part of life... and once the vehicle was out of factory warranty then all bets are off, but to preserve their reputation and customer base, they stepped up at great financial cost. Thats a company i like dealing with and will continue dealing with well into the future.

Isn't the Tundra engine the one that suffers from sludging and poor oil flow anyway?

I know the 3.0L V6 in the camry and my highlander (2001) was the vintage that said it suffered from sludging. I use Syn oil so that should not be a problem now.

Yea, but you look at all the government testing and Toy testing and all they could find was driver error and floor mats wadding up. There was rumors of ECU screwups but dont think that was proven.

Seemed to me like once one idiot smashed through a building hitting gas instead of brake it was on and there happened all the time. After Toyoto did some fix that was not even proved to be the problem by anyone it seemed to stop? Seemed more like the blame game and placebo fix to me? I dunno. Very hard to understand as i did not know anyone personally. But why the **** would you just not cut the ignition off and leave the key in the unlock position if your car really was Uncontrollably accelerating? Thats the problem i have.

Because the Prius does not have a key to turn off. You have to hold down a button on the dash for x period of time to shut the engine off. Would think shifting to neutral would also be an option.

One of them was a Highway patrol officer on vacation...not in Prius either. On Gm I never did get any offer from them to replace any of the last three chevys I bought?They always acted like the vechicle was Perfectly designed and built..Any of you ever see a Hydro-boost, I mean one that did not leak?GM flushed me too often and I turned to Toyota....

Yep, I had one and so did one of my brothers and neither mine nor his ever leaked. I didn't know there was supposed to be a problem with them.

My '88 SR5 P/U did this. I would try to press the gas pedal and the floor mat would be over it. The floor mat was constantly moving. Also probably because there was way too much dirt underneath it (hole in mat). When I would clean it out, it took about 30 minutes of smacking to get most of the dirt out. Whenever I thought I was done, I would smack it again and more dirt would come out.

Haven't had this problem with the camry. Being its my wife's car, it is always clean on the inside. I also have a heavier mat over the factory one.

Bird, Maybe I had a bad one, But Auto zone stopped warrantys on them, then could not afford a newone..The kit did not work either, sprayed ps steering fluid everywhere...on my pu.
