Update: oil drain plug fell outta Tundra

Bird, Maybe I had a bad one, But Auto zone stopped warrantys on them, then could not afford a newone..The kit did not work either, sprayed ps steering fluid everywhere...on my pu.

I was just wondering what kind of vehicle you had the hydroboost on. Mine was an '89 one ton dually Chev. and my brother's was a little earlier year. But when I was working in my brother's garage in Anchorage, a customer came in with one of the old turbo Buicks and wanted me to get a number of things for him, including a hydroboost for that car. I couldn't see anything wrong with the one on the car, and I learned that neither could he; just didn't think he was getting enough boost from it. He was just doing a restoration job on that Buick himself and that was one of the parts he decided to replace with a new one. Anyway, I told him I'd have to order what he wanted, take 3 or 4 days to get it, and the total cost was going to be about $1,500 (I don't remember the exact amount) and he paid me in advance. Of course I gave him a receipt, but with no contact information on it (he said he'd be in to pick it up).

Well, his order came in, and it sat there for over 3 weeks. I'd have probably sent it back if it hadn't already been paid for, and I had no way to contact him. Sure made me wonder. But then one day he finally showed up to get it; seems his job had called him on short notice to one of the outlying wilderness areas and he had no communication link back to town.

GM still uses it to this day on the Diesel trucks, Duramax. Its better now but my uncle has a 6.5L GMC Suburban 2500 Diesel and this has been a sore spot along with the injector pumps on the thing. Its a 1994 or 1996 I think.

I had hydroboost on my '89 6.2 (non-turbo) diesel 3/4 ton 4x4 Suburban. That thing stopped like a Corvette and never had serious a problem with it in around 175,000.

One set of broken starter bolts due to age/torque, a water pump, couple of glow plugs and a battery terminal rotting out were the only problems I ever had.

If someone with 12 kids hadn't pulled up the driveway and offered WAY more than it was worth (wasn't for sale), I'd still have it...Loved that truck.

That sounds like something my F350 7.3 needs. The vacuum boost leaves a bit to be desired, especially when pulling my usual overloaded gooseneck.

We have it on a '04 and an '05 Chevrolet Express 3500 (15 passenger van). No complaints.
It was also on a F350 (04ish?) that I worked on for a landscaper and once we had a good PS pump, it worked great.

Very glad that OP has the problem taken care of to his satisfaction, and not to knock Toyota, but does anyone remember when they were having all those recalls on numerous vehicles sometime during the last two years? Cannot help but wonder if the lost market share and reputation damage they sustained during that period has led to improved customer service these days. Our family is mostly GM and GM retirees so we have never owned much except GM vehicles. But because of the excellent reputation Toyota had in the past, I did look at their trucks and thought them the best made of any Asian branded model.

I own several GM vehicles and so far so good... just disappointed the GM has obsoleted so many parts... makes me wonder if I'm on borrowed time.

GM and Toyota had a long term joint venture with GM and Toyota Branded Vehicles going down the same assembly line...

The employee's I know could get discounts on both GM and Toyota vehicles.

I use to drive one at a few jobs ago. Was a 1998 extended cab 2500 with the 454 engine, and hydroboost.
