Jerky LSeries 3pt Hitch Fixed

I contacted my dealers service manager today, and he took my information and said he would research it and get back to me, He asked if I knew where the dealers were on the 2 L series with the fixed 3pts. Can you all shed some light on that? He had no immediate information.

I plan to stop back and talk to the mechanic. The tractor was at the dealer for about 2.5 weeks. Two issues were looked at the same time, one for cruise control and the other for the 3pt hitch. On a prior visit, the dealer told me (after contacting kubota rep) that this was normal behavior for the hitch. I didn't agree, but took the tractor home. This time, I sent a request from kubota's website explaining the problems I was having with the hitch and also a link to my before video. Within same day my dealer told me they heard from kubota and to bring the tractor back in. The dealer told me they had to fight with kubota saying it was indeed a problem and to be able to fix this under warranty. It was not an external adjustment. They had to take the top cover off the transmission and pull out the valve and adjust it.

The hitch is not perfect but much more usable. I did notice that there is very little resistance on the 3pt lever now, it feels silky smooth in the travel. Before, it had more resistance and took more hand pressure.

unfinished,

Mine has always been more like your second video 'after'. It only jumps as it begins or finishes the movement. It was never as bad as your 'before'. It looks like you have have gotten some improvement but appears there is still a problem. I am able to work around the issue, but it just seems like I should not have to.

Could you by any chance show a video of yours? How much does it jump? I don't feel that mine is all that jumpy after the adjustment. Yes, not quite like Jokergerm's but I don't know if I have the same valve. Before the 3pt arms would move an 1 inch or more and shake the whole back of the tractor, now the movements are much smaller, guessing 1/4" or 1/2" and much gentler. If you guys don't consider mine fixed then maybe should look into this some more.

I would be very happy with yours, let me see if I can find Seans, video it represents the majority of them I think. certainly just like mine.

Yes, that video ^^^ is similar to mine before with something heavier on the hitch. I will make another video with a rear blade but it really is much better than before.

Bear with me since I haven't had time to read this entire thread, but I have a couple suggestions/observations, again, maybe these have been brought up already...

First, I read in the other thread that the dealer either put in a new valve or 'made some adjustments' to it. Does anyone on here have a service manual for the L2800/3400 or L3200/3800? I would assume any adjustments that the dealer would know about would have come from the service manual. At least it might give some measurements or specs on how the valve should be adjusted.

Second thought, I haven't looked at a standard L series recently, but most position control systems have some sort of feed back linkage to tell the valve where the arms are. On some tractors they are internal, others they are external. Anyways, seems like something even as simple as some linkage being out of adjustment could contribute to this problem. This could also explain why some are worse than others. I wouldn't put it past Kubota to completely neglect to set these up right at the factory. I know that not a single B-series I have used has had the 1/4" 3pt hitch set right.

I could be way off base on both of those observations, but just thought I'd throw in my :2cents: in case it could help anyone.

Good points, I don't know anything about the hydraulic setup.

I'm going to ask the dealer to look at the service manual and see if it says anything about adjustment or if it is just replacement of the valve. I wanted to look at one before I purchase a manual anyway.

I have an M59 with a 3pt option. It certainly is not smooth by comparison to the B3030. Found the message from Teg interesting that M59 has the same valve so I tried to put the attached diagrams together to see the location of the valve etc. I use the BH most of the time but occasionally put the 3 pt hitch on. I find it nearly impossible to grade with.

Not certain this will help with the L series but I would think the valve should be located in a similar fashion.

I have the parts and service manual on order for the M59. I'm retired now so I will have time to resolve this. I'll share what I learn.
