Long vs short bed truck when pulling a gooseneck?

Crew cab long bed. It's about 2 feet longer than my Yukon xl. I couldn't pull up the actual length right now.

My wife and I measured a cc long box about 7 years ago when building our house so that we could size our garage. If memory serves me correctly, It was a Ford SD and was slightly over 21 ft long

The longer the wheelbase (axle centerline to axle centerline), the better the ride will be pulling ANY trailer, gooseneck or bumper pull.

It will handle better because the long wheelbase reacts slower to steering input than a shorter wheelbase as well.

My personal truck is a 350 Ford CC long bed diesel 4x4 and I pull a tri axle Kaufman drop quite a bit.

I've decided to not consider the short box trucks at all. Besides the better handling when towing as has been so well put here in this thread just the extra room for hauling in the bed will be worth it.

Another thing about short beds is that the fuel tank capacity is usually less than a long bed. My F-250 LB has a 38-gallon tank. As I recall the SB has a 29-gallon tank. Even at 13MPG unloaded, my LB has 117-miles more range than a comparable SB.

If I had my way, I'd like a 10' bed.

Aaron, that was a one time trip for the picnic table. He made it in Texas and took it to his son in central Washingon. However, he has ramps and an electric winch, so he hauls his golf cart up there, and his Yamaha TMAX scooter on the bed right behind the cab.
