Jerky LSeries 3pt Hitch Fixed

   / Jerky LSeries 3pt Hitch Fixed #161
I have a Grand L, and like you would expect my 3pt. works well...

I do understand the dealer & Kubota position... the 'problem' has always been there to varying degrees... So why invite a flood of fix this... when the majority are not perfect but functional.

If the fix involves fine tuning the internal settings, you can eat up a LOT of shop time. It will not benefit the dealer to give away 4 to 12 hours(?) shop labor because there will always be one somewhere that is smoother than the next & at what point is it going to be good enough.
If an adjustment will fix it... all those that are not 'perfect' will want a warranty adjustment plus all those that are out of warranty will feel cheated... so That limits anyone from stepping forward with an adjustment procedure...
It is a bad situation and one that I am glad I am not directly involved in... For everyone that is caught with this I hope there is an adjustment procedure that comes to light... allowing individuals a chance to do it themselves... KennyV

I understand this completely.. And agree completely!

What I do not understand, is why Kubota would come out with a brand new model .. The L-3800, with exactly the same difficulties.

Hard to fathom!

That's because except for a few minor differences, including sheet metal, the L3800 is the same tractor as the L2800/L3400/L3700SU.. they share the same chassis including the 3 point hitch.

true they share everything, but marketing can renumber the part as always and claim it was redesigned and not retro-fitable to put an end to the reputation.

Reality is not fact, it is merely accepted perception.

Chef Pa, I'm one of those who was all ready to get an l3700, but won't unless the jerky hitch problem finds a solution on these pages. I would have had one already if I hadn't had to replace my old truck recently with a new Toyota Tacoma. I buy Toyota because they have historically produced reliable well built economical vehicles that our own arrogant GM, Ford and Chrysler companies refused to build for years. Looks to me Kubota is heading down the same rotten road those companies took. Its a shame, but you reap what you sow.

I have a L3700 SU. It has the bad 3 point hitch. This is my 3rd bota , dealer gave the same " idunno" response you expect. Our family was in the market for another machine and with the widespread 3 point problems with the L series, We decided to go green. Maybe this is just a good reason to buy American.

Maybe green is American, but not much is made in American these days. Maybe my Kubota loader. My dealer is American but I can't say he's been much help with the hitch. It's all very sad but then I think if anyone was perfect the others would be hurting.

I just went to Kubota Parts and entered 9Y021-18201 in the "Kubota Part Search" field, not the "Commonly used..." field. That one didn't work

Has anyone given any thought to the fact that maybe this "valve" is not the problem? My B-Series exibitted the exact same issue with the hitch being "jerky". The problem was/is the way the hydraulic lines were routed from the factory. Kubota has "quietly" come up with a kit that re-routes the return line coming off the steering box. Fluid cavitation causes the "jerky" lift operation so by re-routing the return line they corrected the issue 100%. Kubota helped me with the repair even though mine was way out of warranty. I know the B and the L are two different tractors but the symptoms are exactly the same. Perhaps the tractor that was fixed had an unapproved fix that had nothing to do with a valve so the dealer would rather remain silent. I think the story of the valve being out of adjustment or out is tolerance is a cover to keep the customer happy and the dealer out of trouble for doing an unapproved fix.

I find Wayne Jessie's post interesting, especially if the 2nd generation valve, 3rd generation valve or whatever they're up to currently, is shared by different models when they don't necessarily share the hitch problem.

I don't know how the lines are routed on the L tractors with issues, but I wonder what they changed on Wayne Jessie's B? Fewer bends, larger pipe, etc?
