Good Mornin Brandi,
Great job on the concrete !

The concrete pouring job is huge, my little job was to install all the J bolts on the outside perimeter of my 28' by 42' barn. We had two concrete guys along with my contractor inside the pad leveling with a power screte, a huge job IMO !

I knew we were in trouble when all the concrete trucks showed up at almost the same time rather than being staggered ! :( Eight yards on each truck !

When it was all properrly leveled, then we used a power trowel to finish the surface..... Lots of sweat that day ! ;)

In the end it came out great, and love it when ever I walk into the building !

Thanks for sharing ! :)

Scott,
Thanks! It is definitely a great feeling walking in on the concrete.

I had to pop the fan belt off of my Cummins the other day to check for bad bearings on the alternator. I didn't need a tarp to lay on.:) Just blew the dust where I wanted to lay down.

How about some photos of your barn?
hugs, Brandi

Scott,
Thanks for the link.:) I started reading it the other day.;)

Sealer on concrete? What is that for? Is it for moisture?

Down here we just put plactic down before the rebar for a moisture barrier.

Good Mornin Brandi,
Its more a way of constantly having to deal with dust from the concrete ..... Whenever you sweep up, you will allways get some concrete dust, but by sealing it in you wont.

Yes, we also put down the plastic vapor barrier, as you did, to protect from moisture working its way up from the ground ! Well worth the money IMO ! :)

Scotty,
Yes, Vapor barriers are well worth the money. My first job as an aircraft mechanic:D was for a Piper and Mooney:thumbsup: service center. The hangar did not have a vapor barrier. It would get puddles on the concrete, it sweat so much.

Back then, we only had electric (as in 115 volt) screw guns. If the extension cord got pulled into a puddle while we were on a creeper underneath a plane, we would get a nice tingle.

Nowadays we have progressed past pneumatic screw guns to 18 volt Makitas. They are the best, plenty of torque, 15 minute recharge and no air hose.

Okay Y'all,
I have decided to just put the five red squares like the Purino logo, with no edging around the 5 red squares, centered on the door.
So I will have to get white siding on first. That will make it cheaper. Then install the five, 3x3 foot red squares.
Only nuisance I see going this way is I have red metal edges on the 2x6 frame, so about an inch of red will show on the sides and bottom.:confused3:
hugs, Brandi

Brandi, I'm not sure that you will really notice the 1" border, It will probably be fine. So are you staying up all night worrying about this stuff?
